I am so excited. I am going to the mall in Orlando, Fl tomorrow morning to get 3G. My MIL dropped her v1 in the ocean getting their boat out of the water. Since she needs a new phone, we are going together. I want a white one. Wish me luck!

Thanks, guys! I did not decide on a case yet. I will get something at the Apple store tomorrow to get me by until I find just the right one.

You go, girl; just don't let the MIL use your new phone anywhere near that boat!!!

She is somewhat careful with her phone. She had it in her front pocket of her pants, and it slid out when they were getting the boat into the trailer, I think. The screen cracked and it took on water. A lot of water. Like a swim.
Hardly anyone touches my iphone. Occasionally my husband, who is getting my old phone. He know if he breaks it he has to fork out for a new one. :gasp:
I am going to the Florida Mall since it is the closest to my house. We are getting there right at 8am to try to get in and out easily. Hopefully our plan will work!

Kisstine, what kind of case do you use? I use a Beyza leather slip case for holding my v1 in my purse, but I use it naked. I can order another Beyza for 3G, but I need to get an intermediate case so I do not get the new phone all scratched up in my purse.

I absolutely love my iPhone 3G. Are you getting the 8GB or 16GB?

It's about time Lisa. I hope they have plenty in stock for you. Two of my friends went to Millenia Mall last week and waited for 3-4 hours in line each to get their phones. Pretty intense.

I want white, which only comes in 16GB. But I will take whatever they have. I have to drive about 45 minutes just to get to the mall. I live in Brevard County, close to the beach and I have to drive in to Orlando to get to the Apple store.

Thanks, Phil. My BIL went to Millenia a couple weeks ago on a Saturday and they were out so he went to Florida Mall, where he got an 8GB since they were out of 16GB. The website has been showing stock everyday, but I am not sure how accurate that is. We are leaving here at 7am, and I will probably stop for a coffee, but we hope to get there right at 8am. I hope it will be early enough. Neither my MIL or I am patient... Actually, she is worse than I am, which is very very impatient.
I just have been so busy with work and kids and other stuff that I have not carved out any time to go and try to get one. Since she broke hers I have a good excuse to go now.
Off topic-when do you go back to Gainesville? Or are you already there? I know football practice has started, because Darren gives me a daily update.

lol! That did sound like I live on the ocean or something.
I do not go to the beach very often. I think when you live close to the beach it is not as exciting.
And I really do not live that close to the beach. I meant that as a generalization so people understand that I live on the Atlantic side of Florida. It takes me about 20 minutes to drive from my house to the beach.

Good choice, HBOC! Black is definitely my favorite color. It looks better (and sexier :tounge:) and it doesn't look as dirty as the white one when it gets scratches or gathers dirt/dust. Good buy.
Lucky you! I wish yo luck to get the iPhone you want.
I hope that my 16gb 3G in white is waiting for me in NJ.
Going there tomorrow to pick up a whole bunch of junk mail, maybe a credit card blll (probably) and the white iPhone should be there also!

I was in Gainesville for the entire summer (for the most part) but I'm on vacation finally in TN. I'll be going back this Sunday and will be there until the beginning of the semester on August 25.
Football practice has certainly started and I couldn't be more excited. I was driving on campus the other day and my two friends in the car insisted I drive by the practice field and as I did the entire football team started walking toward the field, in the middle of the road. I had to stop my car because they wouldn't part ways and Tim Tebow almost walked right into my hood because some lady was hounding him to sign a football. The entire team is so respectful and were posing for pictures and signing things with smiles on their faces.
I really can't wait for football season. Do you think you guys are going to be able to make it up for a game? My apartment next year is just a few blocks from campus so I'm going to have some awesome tailgate activities going.

I picked up my white 16gb about 45 minutes ago, I arrived just after 9am since they are doing the 8am iphone sales at the apple store near my job. When I arrived there were 4 people in line ahead of me, and as expected the ordeal was painful due to AT&T. If you are a existing customer make sure your bill is paid and if you just paid it make sure it has posted. I paid my bill before I headed over there and since it didn't post they flagged me to pay the non-contract price of $499. So I had to sit on the phone for about 30 minutes clearing it up so I could be pre-approved for the $199-299 price point. Once, I got passed there, the store had plenty of phones left and I was taken to the counter to get the phone, then to a mac to activate it. The guy even asked me to open the box and sync it (guess they want us to experience almost the complete unboxing experience...lol). After a brief tutorial and activation, he sent me on my way smiling ear to ear with my white 16gb iPhone :-)
** Just noticed some wierd brown crack looking blemish on the bottom left of my iPhone, this is going back ASAP, may have to get a black one instead**

I grew up in Miami, on the water (seawall, no sand) and practically lived at the beach.
Now I am in L.A. about 1/2 mile from the water but the beaches here suck compared to Florida (fightin' words around here!). My wife & I like to cycle along the coast but that's about as close to the water I get these days.
Go Gators!

True, I got white to stand apart from the other 3gs in the office, they all are black 8gb and 16gb. :laugh2::2cool:
After a few odd stares from their employees, they painlessly replaced my iPhone, so now I have a flawless device.

My MIL got to the Apple store about about 8:20 am. There was no line, just some Apple employees outside the door. They asked what we wanted, and they got us sales guys who got our phones. I got white 16GB and MIL got black 16GB. The whole process was very easy and painless.
I got the pink Sena slip case because I am not really sure what case I want, and it is similar to my old case. MIL got a brown croc Sena slip case and a rose colored Incase cover. (I really like the agent 18 case with the flowers on the back, but I did not get it It is almost the same as the Incase rubbery case). She also got the non-glare screen protector, and I really like that. I will have to get that for my husband's and my phones. She used the phone all day with no fingerprints!
I am in the process of updating the software on my new 3G, then I have to work on activating my v1 for hubby!

So far, great! I actually have not really used it much yet. I had to update the software and restore and then activate my v1 for my husband. (After a stop into the EIC chat so Alex and Sav could tell me I needed to put Darren's sim into v1 to get it to activate).
I will get to test it out tomorrow, then I can report back!

NICE!! Good for you...glad you never let them get between you and your iphone.
I arrived late, now its 12:35am. I found all my mail and a package. So, I opened the package and saw my white iphone 16GB. I popped in a Canadian SIM card...and I got a call! Ha, ha! :laugh2:
Already updated to 2.0.1 I held it gently thinking it is too soon to take the protective plastic off. No, I shall go to bed now. Leaving the iphone near the bed and the alarm set ...as I dream iphone dreams.
More tomorrow and beyond as soon as I can sit with it to explore and play.
Peace.

have a v1 but live in the boondocks no 3g coverage where I live . .aside from ringtones so quiet they wouldn't disturb a church service , , I really like it . .any real reason to spring for a new one?

Nope, only difference for you would be the GPS, and the improved audio quality (jury is still out on this one for me as I had a call and didn't notice the improvement just yet.)

If you're happy with what you've got, there's no pressing reason to change.
I had a v1, have no 3G service where I live, but made the switch because my husband was really wanting an iPhone and handing down the old one and getting a 3G meant we both got new toys.
I was expecting to have 3G coverage at the school where I teach because the AT&T coverage map shows all of Davis, CA solid blue, but there is no 3G signal, even outdoors, there. I'm disappointed about that, but still love having a new toy.
The GPS is useful as I don't have a stand-alone unit in my car. The sound quality on calls is much improved. The speaker is louder and clearer. And I like the feel of the new phone in my hand. If those things aren't worth the added cost to you, I'd stick with what you've got.
