I bought a 3G, nearly once a day an app freezes and when I force the phone to restart it would go to the black screen with the apple logo and never boot up again, requiring a restore.

I returned it thinking the phone was trashed, and am back to my trusy old V1 (and upgraded to 2.0.1), and just like before i'm doing a full restore nearly once a day.

And since the backup and restore process takes SEVERAL HOURS my iphone spends about as many hours unusable as it does usable.

It is so painfully agonizing having a device that is so powerful and useful that is at the same time such an aggravating piece of trash.

It just froze when I tried to open the phone icon (not kidding) and now won't boot back up.

Time to do another restore.

At least when windows freezes all I have to do is reboot, I don't have to reformat and reinstall every time.

There might be something wrong with your backup if you keep restoring it and keep having to do it over again. Have you ever tried setting it up as a new iPhone?

3/4 the time I do set it up as a new phone since often it freezes, I restore, and it freezes again before I'm even able to make a backup. (on both the 3G I had and my V1)

(on both the 3G I had and my V1) go back to 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 if u can... i'm so glad i don't listen to all thoses ppl who told me to update.. i hear nothing but problem after problem, i'll stay on 1.1.3 thanks... i only got 1 bug, and thats SMS time being 4 hours behind.. i'll live with it lol

Same here! At least once a day, while I'm on the Internet, my phone will crash and resets and reboots itself...taking about 3 minutes. Very annoying. Never had it before.

I agree you're backup file is likely corrupt.
Try this:
Delete your backup files.
Connect your phone via iTunes and force a new backup. This will take a while and unfortunately there's no way around it.
Once the new good backup has been created then restore your phone.
I'd be almost willing to bet you won't be constantly restoring your phone and your backups will complete in 3-5 minutes after that.

yeah right. I've done everything you can think of, I always restore as a new phone, I've got an exchange at the apple store, STILL the same problem. if I download an app, I have to restore. crazy
