View Full Version : Anyone got a spare Mac they'd be willing to trade?

I tried to update my Hackintosh from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 and fried it, leaving me frustrated and just tired of it all... I spent all day trying to follow some instructions for getting it up to date so that I could install the latest iPhone SDK, and it would no longer boot. C'est la vie, as they say. So, I want a genuine Mac, but I have no money or credit to speak of. I have all sorts of fine objects with which I can trade, however, the most relevant of which being, of course, the very computer I dove into the Hackintosh world with. (you of course wouldn't get it as a Hackintosh, since I screwed over that installation...)

Wondering what an equivalent Mac would be for a machine of these specs...

Lenovo X60 Tablet (6366-8KU) with dual-digitizer (Wacom tablet pen and resistive touch)

Bluetooth, wifi a/b/g/n, ethernet, modem, hi-speed USB, IR, firewire, built-in mic and speaker as well as mic and headphone jacks

1.86ghz Core Duo L2500
2gb of DDR2 (aftermarket upgrade)
100gb 5400 RPM Hitachi original drive
200gb 7200 RPM Hitachi aftermarket drive
X6 Tablet Ultrabase (built-in stereo speakers)
SATA hard drive adapter for ultrabase
DVD multi recorder for ultrabase
Umpteen months still left on Lenovo's limited warranty
Some bumps, scratches, cracks, but nothing that affects performance or usability (can probably get Lenovo to fix this...)

I'd obviously need something Intel and capable of running 10.5.3 as per the SDK requirements, other than that, I'm flexible...hell, I'd even go for a Mac mini if that's all this trade-in would get me anymore.

Anyways...it's been good to me, but I feel like I must at least try to get into the genuine Mac world before I drive myself crazy with all the hoops I have to jump through to develop iPhone apps on a PC.

Too bad you have so many requirements.

I just upgraded from a mac mini, but it'd really be too old for you. It was 4 1/2 years old. Not intel based and not really capable of running anything after Leopard.

Sorry :frown:

Good Luck!

Yeah, posted on craigslist as well, just figured I might get some opinions from the good folks here about what I could reasonably expect in trade, even if I couldn't find someone to give it a good home from here.
