Thinking of jailbreaking..

I am new to this whole jailbreaking thing. I was wondering where can I download the jailbreak? I also see names like Dev Team, pwnage, winpwn.. which one is better? Also, i read stuff about installer and cydia, and i still dont know what the difference is and which is better.... any help would be great, thanks!!
