I sent my son my V1 iPhone and he took it to an AT&T store today to activate. (He does not have a computer)

He needed to port his Sprint number over and start a new AT&T account. He did this all about three hours ago and all seemed to go well. He called me and said everything was working, but then his Sprint phone rang when someone called him. He can now make calls from both phones, but he can only receive calls on the Sprint phone. I called Sprint and they said that perhaps AT&T needs more time to finish porting the number over. This sounds odd to me. Anyone else have this happen to them? He's heading out on a business trip tomorrow morning and may have to take two phones.

Porting is kind of an odd process. On average it takes about four hours but can take up to 24 if there is a snag. What is happening with your phones is completely normal. On the porting process, the Sprint phone will work exclusively for about 2 hours, then one phone usually receives calls while the other one can make them, then four hours into it if the port went well then everything should be switched over. But odd things do happen so 24 hours is not an unreasonable amount of time to wait for these ports. Take it as a good sign that the AT&T phone is working at least half way because that means the port is going well and there are no problems. Hope this helps!

Yep... that's how it works. Give it a little time.
