View Full Version : how do you decorate your phone?

I think I need to add some zest to my phone to make it a little different from all the other iPhones out there. Those rub on letters would be perfect, but probably wear off quickly. I'll probably just put some stickers on it.

What do you have on yours?

I don't put anything on mine. A lot of people make their phone more personal by using a different case but I choose to do it by modding and changing the themes. I don't really see stickers adhering too well and definitely not lasting that long.

Stickers ?!?! Ewwwwwwww no !

Just kidding. :laugh2:

I figure I'll keep my phone "As Is", no colors, stickers, mods, Etc, etc.

Beacuse a lot of folks like to do that sort of thing, after a while there will be fewer and fewer 'natural' phones.

And soon, just like real boobs here in Vegas, a 'natural' Iphone will be a very rare thing ! :2cool:

How is this, for decoration??? Now that my iPhone is out of warranty. It is headed to Colorware, for a make over...Mark:laugh2:

Colorware is classy. Cases.. okay. But STICKERS on an iPhone?! That's just wrong.

Hahaha thats exactly what I was thinking. Stickers would just make it look CHEAP.

But when I had my V1 jailbroken, the theme I loved the most was the Stickers Theme :tounge: lol

Please do not disgrace the integrity and status of the iPhone, by placing stickers on it. Tacky, Tacky, Tacky (no pun intended)...Mark

Y'know, now I'm kinda wondering.. If putting am invisible shield on the iPhone technically voids the warranty (presumably because of the adhesive), would "decorating" the phone with stickers do the same?

I think engraving of the metal back of v1 would look nice. I saw a thread on a company that does laser engraving of ipods and macbooks, etc, but I do not know if they do iphones.

I was also thinking that putting a little gem somewhere on it would be cute, but then it would not be smooth to fit in a case. And you would I affix such jewel. And I am a jewelry snob, so it would have to be a real gem. Talking about gems on the iphone, I like the vaja crystal cases (http://www.vajacases.com/home/home_en.html), but I cannot bring myself to pay that much for a case.

I also like colorware (http://www.colorwarepc.com/p-161-iphone-3g.aspx).

I would think so. Most stickers deliver a powerful adhesive punch.

Dang the Vaja Crystal Case takes 45 days to make. Not exactly a short wait for a case.

It doesn't void your warranty, and it doesn't leave any residue. I have it on my back, and I had them replace it once. Peels right off. I also had it on the front, and peeled that one off (I didn't like the look or feel on the front) - also didn't leave any residue at all. It's almost like window tint -but there really isn't any adhesive....

Let me see, Mac Book Pro, iPhone v1 and iMac. Yet you want to be chinsy and paint it yourself???

If you are going to be a Real Mac Fanatic, you have to adopt the thinking best said by Rappers (Jermaine Dupree & Jay-Z), "Money Ain't A Thing" or did they say "Thang", yes that's it...Mark:laugh2:

Actually if your handy with an airbrush you can paint the plastic back...just needs to be scuffed up a bit with 600 wetsand paper, and after you paint it..just clearcoat...i might try this.

A custom paint job could look very cool. But does paint like this need to be baked in any sort of way, or do you just let it dry? I am imagining something cool, like you would put on a motorcycle.

It shouldnt have to be baked as long as the original paint is scuffed up pretty well, and the beauty of it is the design can always be wetsanded off (prior to clearcoating) if its not the way i wanted it to look.
A motorcycle would be cool, idk, im kinda into chinese art, maybe a dragon with some chinese lettering.

I did not mean paint a pic of a motorcycle on there! I meant I was imagining a desgin like someone might paint onto their motorcycle. I should not post late when I am tired.

I agree that if the paint job was really good, it would look nice. Are you an artisit?

Oh i see....i was tired too, yes i do custom paint work on classic cars, and motorcycles, mostly as a hobby now, (primary job is in healthcare).
But the thing is im used to painting designs on a much bigger scale, like the hood of a car, so i wll have to practice a little on shrinking designs to scale before i paint my 3g. The paint i use is a polyurethane Imron, which is aircraft paint,,, the hardest paint to scratch (short of powder coating), so i might not need an invisible skin either.

I believe it's Photoshop; notice the same suble diagonal shadow on the right image in all of them...

It's a company. They make the sticker, and give you the jpg wallpaper to match.

Cool site.

I stand by my original statement; I think all the examples shown are actually Photoshop (or something similar).

It's much easier to generate the images than take photos of the actual items. Recurring details (like that shadow) are the tip-off.

I dont have a "sticker" per-se but I do have it decorated to look like a leopard skin. Yes it does stick to the iphone BUT the adhesive does not stay. They are easily removable and reusable. I bought them off of ebay. Even when I brought my iPhone into the Apple Store for repairs I had it on my phone and the people there loved it. My background even matches. I plan on buying more. Do a search on ebay for "iPhone SKINS"

Has anyone ever tried to personalize the Iphone by laser marking (http://www.ulsinc.com/english/laser_systems/key_features/main.html) because I would like to get some sort of symbol on the back but I'm not sure if I should do it myself or send it to a company to get it done. So if anyone has some information about it, I would be more than thankful. :)

Wow, these are hot. The 1st one reminds me of Windows 98. The 2nd reminds me of an XBox. The other two are on fire (as in Hot, Hot, Hot). I really really like the speaker one. Mark
