I just got my first bill after upgrading from a v1 iPhone to a 3G. There is a "one time upgrade fee" for $18.00 on my bill. I don't remember the Apple employee telling me about that charge, but he may have. Is everyone else getting and paying this?

Thanks,

Yup, its a standard charge throughout the industry. You can call in and act angry at the service rep and they will sometimes take it off.

Yes, even if you were switching to another phone other than the iPhone you'd be charged the $18 activation fee. New customers actually pay more for the same thing.

After reading this thread this afternoon, I called AT&T and told them (NICELY) that I just received my first bill and was not informed of the $18 upgrade fee when I purchased my iphone last week. He took the charge off right then.

That is what happens when you are nice, I can't stand when people take anger out on others and want something in return and when the don't, they get even more mad! It pays to be nice!
