Is anyone else experiencing issues with the iPhone accelerometer?
When I am surfing a website in Safari and want to go into landscape mode, I tilt the phone and... nothing. I tilt it back and try again... nothing. I shake the phone and try again... nothing. About 5% of the time it will work and tilt the screen into landscape, but then it won't go back to portrait.
Is this a software issue? It worked a little better under 2.0, but under 2.0.1 it seemw to have stopped working altogether. I have tried other applications and it seems to work okay. Even a hard reset doesn't seem to fix the problem?

The accelerometer on Safari sometimes never works or just turns by itself.
Its only a 2.0/2.0.1 bug thought so it should be fixed.. eventually. Unless your also getting problems using accelerometer in other apps.

start with the phone stable either way. Then turn it. If it is shaking, you are walking briskly, while u turn it, the screen won't turn. Of you really think the accelerometer is off, try a game that uses it.
I had issues at first thinking the phone might be defective but realized I was shaking the phone a little when trying to landscape/portrait.

I had accelerator issues with 2.0 where it would almost stop in between portrait and landscape modes but 2.0.1 has fixed that for me. I find it interesting that some users are having trouble with certain features that others aren't... most problems don't appear to be universal. Fortunately I've not experienced any of the lag problems that others have complained about.

I think that is what it was. I was turning the phone while I was walking. When I got home and tried it, it worked perfectly.

Glad that helped. It seems the phone needs like a reference point to decide which way to turn. When you hold it steady for a second it knows which way gravity is pulling. Then when you turn it, it will orient itself.
I guess when the phone is bobbing in too many axiss, it can't tell which way is up.

No problems with my accelerometer here. In fact, when I lay on my bed with my iPhone, it works a little TOO well tilting to landscape when I don't need it to.
