Bluetooth question...?

When I turn Bluetooth on it shows a little spinning wheel that indicates that the phone is searching for other things to pair with. Does this take extra battery over another phone where the Bluetooth is on but is not searching constantly? I can't find a way to shut the searching function off on the Bluetooth. Any ideas? Thanks.

I know that when Bluetooth is "Discoverable" it uses more battery life then of course, if it was off or not searching.

Once it pairs to a device, it stops searching. If you know there is not a bluetooth device you want to connect to, leave it off. No reason for it to search for something you know isnt there.
