I am certainly not bashing ATT, but I wanted everyone to know what I have been through to get my Visual Voicemail to work. Understand I had a 1st gen iPhone and ordered the 2nd gen. No wait, I went in and the store activated it. I went home and downloaded everything. A couple of days later I realized I could not get my visual VM. Entered my password and all I could get was a message saying, “Your account may not be configured for VM”. I tried everything I knew including resetting and restoring the software – same message. The Apple store Genius looked at it and said it was not the phone but rather my account.
To make a long story short, this morning after4 hours at the ATT store, they finally turned me over to two different techies via telephone. Finally after setting up a new email account – which did not work, I was switched to a new techie. He finally got it fixed and when I asked him the problem, he said there was a problem with the APN.
During this time I never had a problem with Internet access or any other feature except the visual VM.
So, if any one else is having this problem, tell them to check on the APN – whatever that is.
ATT was wonderful and extremely helpful and apologetic.
