Every now and then, when I pull my headphones out of my iphone 3g, the music starts playing out loud through the speakers. It usually happens after I get done with a conversation where I used the headphones as a headset. This is annoying at best, and has potential to be pretty bad if I am listening to my music in a quiet area. Anyone else have this problem or know of the solution?
Sorry if I missed the thread for this, but I can't a thread talking about this anywhere.

That happened to me once with my first gen phone. I was listening to iPod, took a phone call and when it returned to my music it was at the loudest setting possible. It was painfully loud and really blasted my ear drums. I ended up having to get new earphones because when I took a phone call after that one of the speakers would rattle. Fortunately, it's never happened again and I've never spoken with anyone that has experienced that either.

I think you have to let the call totally end, and then let the music start playing through the headphones first. Then you can unplug and the music won't restart on the speaker.
When I take calls with the headset, my iPod automatically starts playing(when I End Call), even if I wasn't listening to iPod before the phone call. It's quirky but more of a convenience feature than a glitch, I think. If the phone senses the headset in, you must have been listening to something, right? So the phone assumes you were and 'restarts' the music for you. My theory.

I've had my iPod start playing randomly, too. The first couple of times I thought I must have hit something by accident, but now that I'm thinking about it, I've been getting out of the car the times I can remember noticing it. Guess it could very well be related to headset use. Hmm.. something to pay attention to.

Thanks people, I appreciate the help, but I was not very clear in my first post. I think Kisstine's situation is probably the most like mine.
Basically, it goes down like this...I get in my car to go home from work and put my headset in to make calls while I drive. I finish the call, end it, go back to the home screen and all of the normal stuff. I get home however long after ending the call it happens to be, without noticing anything out of the ordinary, and pull the headphones out because I leave them in my car. All of a sudden, the phone randomly goes to the Ipod and starts playing a song from my playlist through the phone speakers (not the headphones...the headphones are unplugged). I hadn't been listening to the Ipod before I made the call. Do you think this is a software problem I could fix with a restore or does it sound more like a hardware problem?

Yes, I'm having a similar problem.
I listen to music.
Then I press the pause button in the ipod software on my iphone.
I unplugged the headphones, and the music starts again!!!
Very vexing indeed.

This is a 3.0 bug. It happens to me all the time!!!! the first time i almost went deaf because i use inner ear monitors for headphones.
Until Apple realizes this you'll just have to endure and go to settings/ipod and set the Volume Limit to a safe place.

You seem to be talking of another Problem.
Also, I had the music-starts-randomly-after-earphones-unplugged-Problem before upgrading to 3.0

It sounds like a software issue, so I think if it's really an issue that's bothering you then you should try a restore.

no no.... i should have said that when i pull the headphones out the music will play thru the speakers loudly as well, but sometimes the same thing will happen in the headphones after ending a call.
