well, for a v1, the buyer will only be able to insert a sim and use the phone without signing a contract with at&t is for you to unlock it for them. Might as well jail break it too.

All you need to do is to plug the new phone into iTunes and it will sync it like your old one.

Do not sell phone with sim card.
Do a final backup in itunes so you will be ready to go with your new phone. You want to make sure everything is off the V1 before you sell it. If you are on 2/0, go to settings-general-reset-erase all content and settings. This will put virgin firmware on the phone and get rid of current content. It takes about an hour but well worth it. If you are not on 2.0,read this article (http://www.iphonealley.com/news/guide-for-thoroughly-erasing-your-iphone) first.

Ive been thinking about selling my v1 also. Actually its my wife's v1, and I already have the 3g, but she wants the 3g now. Anyway, I checked ebay and a locked v1 is only pulling around $200. Is it even worth it? I hate ebay, I would rather just sell it to someone I know.

You could try craigs list and find someone locally that is interested in the V1.

HEYY!!!!THANKS FOR TELLING PEOPE ABOUT MY POST! Lol

You should go with the 3g projectdarkside. If you get a discount from your job (that yuou keep bragging about lol) then go for the 3g. I would take advantage of that, but lucky for you, you make money, I still have a year to go before I can get a workers permit and get a job at a store.

Pds, a 3g might be an issue however. You know you can't pay for a 3g with cash, right? Only credit/debit cards.

Haha true. But I think pds said he wanted to purchase through ATT, which would void the gift card idea.

Nah currently when I get a paycheck I take $20 dollars out for pocket money and the rest will go into my banking/checking account so paying it oughta be no problem
