hi guys! i've been using my iphone since last year and i'm still using version 1.1.1 which is pretty old version. anyhow, the reason why i never update my iphone is just because i'm afraid of ruining it. however, i'm here who needs a support or tips from other people if it is possible to upgrade my iphone for the latest firmware on the market without harming or ruining my iphone. i'm hoping for some1 who could help me with this matter.

The purpose of the upgrades are actually to help rather than harm your phone; upgrades fix issues that the developers weren't aware of at the time of the software release.

You are missing out on a lot of cool features by not upgrading. The 2.0 firmware will allow you access to the app store on itunes where there are tons of apps and many are free.
Do it.

It is quite simple...
Upgrade your iTunes to 7.7 > Connect your iPhone > Wait for iTunes to recognize it > Choose Check for Update.
It will make a backup copy of your settings and will update your iPhone to the latest firmware available.

I don't know much about jailbreaking, but I do know you will have to get the phone back to stock first. Then you can do like Rob said.
