Locking SMS App.

i tried searching for this thread but i can't find anything on this.

I would like to put a lock on my SMS application, i found that people tend to go strait to my text messages when they look at my phone, so i wondering if there is an app. to put a lock on JUST my SMS Application.

Sorry, but I dont think there is one, at least that I could find. I've tried searching for this too with no luck.

right now there isnt one. the only thing you can do is use the lock code to lock the phone, under settings. That way no one can get into the phone without your passcode. With the old jailbroken phones there were apps that would hide the texts from popping up on the lock screen but there was never anything that simply locked the sms app that I am aware of.

if you are currently jailbroken you can use the app poof which will hide icons. that way no one will know where your sms icon is, therefore they cannot get into your messages.

1. Jailbreak your iPhone
2. Install BossPrefs from Cydia
3. In BossPrefs, use Poof to hide your SMS icon
4. Put SMS in your BossPrefs Dock
5. ???
6. Profit.

They can still access, but I doubt your friends will look under something called "BossPrefs" to find your texts. Hope that helps.

Yeah, I've been soapboxing about this in the 3g forum section. Iphone needs a "guest/visitor mode" button that locks SMS/email and especially new SMS messages from instantly poping up on the screen. I don't mind others using my phone to check email or get on the internet for what ever reason, but you shouldn't have to jailbreak your phone to keep prying eyes from your texts and emails.

If you don't want to JB your phone, you could create a new page and put your SMS app on it so it's kind of hidden. Other than that, don't let people handle your phone.

You could use Hidepod, this app is not just for hiding videos and pics, it also works for hiding apps.

Then when u want to go to certain apps, just go to the calculator, type in your password and go to the apps u want to use (that u have hidden).

The only drawback is a lot of clicks to get to them.

Normally when I know I will have "company" I hide the apps I dont want touched (MMS, EMAIL, TEXTS), then when company is gone, I bring 'em back.

if your jailbroken cydia just released an app that does exactly what you ask. its called Lockdown and password protects applications like SMS.
