I have a 1st gen. iphone and I want to upgrade to the 3g and also get my wife a 3, right now were on two separate plans at the moment. I've heard conflicting things from the AT&T people about this, the $30 internet charge, does that apply to both of us or do we both have to pay it if we join our accounts into a family plan? Also does the $20 unlimited texts apply to both or do you have to pay per line on the account?

Each iPhone will still be charged the $30 data plan. If you choose the 700 minute option, that runs $69 and includes both phones. So it will be $69+$30+$30+SMS and taxes and additional charges.
Each phone has to pay the $20 for unlimited texts as well.

Are you sure? I'm paying $30 a month for unlimited text with my family share plan which includes 3 BB Pearl's and my 3G. And yes, i have checked my account to make sure

Incorrect. 30 dollars for a family line unlimited texting.
The data plan answer is correct. 30 dollars per iPhone line.
Good luck!

My answer is still correct because there is no way to add family unkimted texting from the AT&T website. Apparantly, you have to call to add that on. They hope that you won't know this like I did and then add unlimted texts to each phone which is more expensive.

That's why I like the store better. Problems online are more difficult to fix than problems at the store.

So if it's a family talk plan unlimited texting is $30 rather than the $20 for individual plans? That's kind of crappy.

Remember, that is for all phones on the account!

if you would like it better you can pay 20 bucks a phone for unlimited text instead of 30 for all of them :)
