I currently have sprint/nextel and I want to purchase the 3G Iphone. With my military discount, I only would get 15% off my bill. I had my coworker/friend run his email and he qualified for 25% with (Lockheed Martin). Is there anyway since he doesn't have nor want AT&T to apply his FAN to my account? Do I just need the FAN or do I need the FAN and email address? Can I apply this discount online after I have a AT&T account? Please reply or pm.

i believe you jsut need the FAN number...and as long as you know the company who the FAN number belongs...it should work out just fine...but thats just me guessing...i applied my FAN like 2 years ago and i have yet to receive my iphone...so we'll see what happens.

BUT...you SHOULD be able to apply it.

Can I apply this online, over the phone, or at the store?

i originally used my company's discount with ATT and when i originally did it, i just applied the FAN # over the phone. Since my last post, i actually tried to see if my university had a discount and it did, which turned out to be a better discount than my company's...so, i tried and was able to change it online. HOWEVER...when i changed it online, it wasn't as simple as putting in the FAN #. ATT sent an e-mail to my school e-mail address and then i was linked to the "validation process" by a hyperlink in the e-mail.

it also says that it takes 1 or 2 billing cycles for it to be effective.

I have a FAM already from my job. I was wondering about the additional 200 minutes? Is the u200 code in addition to the FAM?

barbie

u200 is not an email. What I was talking about is the FAN Discount offered to students and employess of a Job. You enter your e-mail and receive an e-mail with a link to see if you qualify. Once you click on the link you can go back to my post and click current offers and see what discount you get.

The u200 code would be a call in code and may be verified if it applies to your company or school.

I do know if you call in you can get different rate plan. I could call in and get a 500 minute plan instead the 700.

I know about the FAN discount. If you read my previous post you will see that I have it on my account already 25%
I was saying the u200 code didn't work when I called to have it applied. The reps now have a company memo they read stating that if it is available to you it will be automatically be added to your account.

you have to call to add it

Barbie nice find. I will just get the 900 min plan and try to add the code for the 200 extra mins. That willl put me at 1100 which is more than enough.

Wow AT&T changed my friend's FAN from LM to Air Force. Now, we both get 15%. This sucks.

Why did they change your friends? If he's a LM employee, he should just call back and complain.

Yeah, but he has sprint.

The name on my FAN doesn't match my employer either. I live and work in northern California, but my FAN# is for Los Angeles Unified School District. I presume they just lump things together. Maybe that is how the LM friend ended up with the military discount?

You could always call, as your friend, and say that you are looking into switching and had heard about the 25% discount and see what they say. Maybe the discount was reduced and their easy way of changing it was to lump LM together with the military (thinking it was the "closest match" with the discount level they were assigning).

??? Totally guessing here. But AT&T has so many stories that I wouldn't trust one as true until you've heard it from at least two people.:)
