I asked how long the line was and they said 20 minutes.
I guess I'm lucky. How long did you wait?

I waited 15 hours, camped out, but it was alot of fun, made some friends and talked apple and other stuff all night, I even made the paper because I was 1rst in line so the local news crew interviewed me, they even followed me in the store and videoed the whole activation process.
I would do it again.... But next time I bring a grille and some brauts. :smile:

I was 9th in line on the 11th. Waited about three hours total, 2 1/2 of which were prior to the store opening. They must have had twenty or less phones because I was still being helped when they had to go out to inform everyone in line that there were none left and explain the DF process.

July 11th............I waited 3 hours outside......got there at 6am and store opened at 9....I was 40th in line.......then waited 1-2 hours inside for the activation process........

whole process was just over 5 hours........I walked out just after 11am

Yeah, they open at 8. Got there at 7:30AM, was like 80th in line. Total crap, missed it by like 10-20 people. Oh well :( I'll try tomorrow, maybe get there at 6:45/7:00AM.

Nothing to write home about. I got a hair up my butt that morning. Put my old phone on Craigslist (HTC 8925). Sold it for $295 on Craigslist that afternoon. Not knowing what to expect, went to Arden Fair (Sacramento, CA) and headed to the Apple Store.
There were 5 people in front of me (I never asked how long they had been there) waiting patiently. I stood in line for an hour got my phone and smiled like a kid in a candy store the whole way home. :laugh2:

The Sunday after the release (July 13), got to Apple store later than I planned, 11:55am there was about 50+ people in line. I decided to wait even though we weren't sure if they were going to have enough phones, I almost got out of line and left several times because it was a humid day. They did run out of black 16g but I wanted white so I stayed. I waited and was out by 2pm. So it wasn't bad, only about 2 hours but it was the heat and humidity that was the worst part of it. The time waiting I spent exploring the App store on my v1 to pass the time, and lots of people looking over my shoulder.

so today, i rushed there.

around 8am, at least 50 people...

grrrrrr... an hour later, i saw i was halfway there.

but it got longer and longer.

I got mine on the 13th at the last Apple store that had them in central Florida.
Waited in line for 6 then the activation took 1 hour because I had a discount on my account and I had to wait for the cancellation to clear before I could buy it. But it was worth it.

i stopped by the apple store monday morning after the friday launch.
I asked if they knew when they would be getting more, and received the "no one tells us until they are in our hands".

I walked 200ft to the att store around the corner at the u-village in seattle.

3 people were in front of me and they had 10 phones left.

about 2 minutes after getting in line, 50-60 people showed up wanting iphones

20min later i had a 16gb black iphone.

I would have preferred the white one, for its exclusivity, but i did not want to wait till they got more in, and i was worried that i'd be called an iracist.

well i got to the att store on july 11th at 10am there were 30 pple in front of me.
an hr later the computers slowed up and the att networks started crashing.
by 12pm there were 20 pple in front of me now. at 1pm there were 8 pple in front of me and they ran out of iphones. so i stayed for DF. then while waiting to DF like an hr later at 2 when my turn came up fedex showed up with 10 more iphones so i got one luckily. so i waited for 5 hrs

On July 22...showed up at Mall at Millenia in Orlando at 0700...was first in line at the mall entrance door...doors opened at 0755, was first in line at Apple store, doors opened at 0800, no phones...at 1000 there are now 100+ people behind me...lots of phones show up at 1005...I am out of there with 2 16G black at 1100.

So waited 4 hours start to finish. BTW when I left, they were only servicing the 4th customer in line (3 behind me). It was well worth it, I love the phone.

I went to the apple store in the Glendale Galleria.
Went there for the first time the 28th - went around 10:30 - no iphones left. Oops.

Went there yesterday (the 29th) at 8:30, got a claim check, left.
Came back at 4, no one there, breezed in and out (of course, some little problem with the At&t account, but that was resolved relatively quickly). All in all, about forty minutes in the store.
If I had to wait in the morning, it would have taken at least 2 hours in line.
After I picked up my iphone, they put up the sign, "No iphones left in stock" - apparently, some people were loitering about hoping I wouldn't show :)

I was going to order through AT&T through DF but I decided to wait until my local Apple store (Mall of GA in Buford, GA) had plenty in stock. Checked the availablity web site Tuesday night and all stores in GA had all versions. The next morning I called the store and they said they had plenty and there was not line. I went at lunch and there was still no line. Took about 20 minutes and I was out the door.

Also, I was porting my phone number from Sprint and before I could even get back to work which was 15mins away, I got a text saying my number was ported and I could start using my phone.

Could not be happier. Very pain free.
