First - there is no 1.2, unless it's beta. It's 1.1.4 or 2.0
2nd - which phone are you trying to activate? 3G or Version 1?

It's a version 1 that I got last September. It was jailbroken for me, I did do an update accidentally at which point I was then able to use ziphone to unlock it again. Now the only thing on the screen is the usb chord and the itunes logo

It is 2.0, but some sites seem to say that it has the two names, obviously I am not a tech geek, but I do like my iphone, and miss it terribly!!!

Ok. You need to head over to modmyifone.com On the front page, they have listed "pwnage". If you're on a mac, and winpwn if you run windows. They both have step by step walk throughs on how to unlock your version one. It's really not hard, but expect it to take about 30 minutes.

no worries. once you read the ENTIRE write up, THEN attempt. Also, report back here if you need some help. I've done both versions of hacking....
Just make sure you careful about when you are deciding to jailbreak etc...I'm not exactly sure how you got the error you have now, but it seems you tried using an old jailbreak method on a new firmware? Not sure, just be careful and search these forums before attempting
