My V1 case apparently blocks the prox. sensor on my 3G, will a static cling screen protector for the V1 do the same thing?

I wouldn't think it should, since you can still use the touchscreen and everything through it, it's just a clear protector.

Well its blocked because, now, there are 2 proximity sensors.

And any screen protector wont interfere with it one bit. :)

A screen protector doesn't block the sensor.

Ah.. only issue I'm having with the damn screen protector is the air bubbles. Every time I keep trying to get it on I keep getting tiny air bubbles, then dust particles start collecting from the static when i remove it, so I have to keep running the protector under the sink and trying to try it without getting more dust particles on it... odd process.

How much does one spend in a year on Screen Protectors (say the ones that had V1 for a year or estimate on 3G)?

You should try looking into the invisibleSHIELD, or just the front cover. Theres NO air bubbles if you apply, and squeegee it properly...

i got it to go without bubbles somehow, but there's still some in the corner. i tried to modify my stupid case and cut a hole in the top left corner, i guess that isn't where the sensor is where you hold it up to your ear :/

That sensor is to the left of the part where you hear from (can't remember the name :p)...but like, riiiight next to it.

I got my v1 about two weeks after launch. I spent $14.95 on one pack of crystal screen protectors (2 in the package). I messed the first one up a bit when putting it on. Got the second one on without any trouble and it lasted me all the way until I got my 3G.

I ended up cutting the whole corner off my cheap $7 case and got the sensor to work but now the case looks horribly ghetto so I guess I'll be going naked (yay fingerprints), except for my screen protector. I thought my landscape mode was acting kinda whacky too when browsing the web and my album art, but I figured out you have to do it at a weird angle to get it to switch back and forth.

I, like Kisstine, put my screen protector on two weeks after iDay, and it still looks great. No bubbles, scratches, or marks. Looks as good as the day I put it on. I am still using the V1 today, naked other than the screen protector.

I use the anti-glare Crystal Films protector and have never needed to remove or replace it. They last a long time.

It's sad that all four of my corners have bubbles that won't go away, it looks like. Probably from having to apply it ten times to get it right (having to do the tape trick to get the dust off as well each time), I think I peeled it off from every angle, so these bubbles will never go away. I don't much see the point of the protector, I still have to clean my fingerprints off it and the glass underneath is scratch resistant anyways.. a bad enough drop is just going to go straight through the protector. I'm not sure I much like it better than the glass either, some of the smaller buttons seemed easier to press and the screen feels a little different.
