Has anyone else been painfully electrocuted by the chrome trim? While the phone is docked usb to pc, if I lightly touch the back of my finger or hand to the metal trim I am shocked. If I don't remove contact the shock quickly becomes really painful! It seems the current is not strong enough to feel with my palms but I am worried about what harm it could cause the handset! This is more than just a static thing I fear.

What kevlar08 said. You should definitely take your phone into Apple or call Apple for a replacement...

No need for a poll on this one. Something isn't right here. It could be the USB cable, but I would take the phone in to be checked out.

Wow that's pretty dang bizarre. I've not had this happen to me yet (thankfully) but I would suggest you do as the others said, have Apple take a look at it.

Wow, I thought for sure there would be some who could duplicate this! After paying closer attention to this behavior I am finding that I can feel the current more towards the bottom of the phone (closer to the dock/base), and again, only with the soft, more sensitive skin on the back of my finger. I am using the 3G specific cradle as well. I'll visit an apple store soon and post back.
edit: I just discovered I get no shock when charging with wall charger, but still get a shock when usb to pc.

When you charge with the wall, is it still plugged into the dock or not?

Yeah, that is not good. I get shocked by EVERYTHING for some reason but my phone has never shocked me before.

Yes, still in the dock, and no shock. I just discovered I get the shock when connected to PC with or without dock. So it's the PC.. hmmm

Probably a short in the USB port. In my earlier post I said cable, I meant port.

There are three ports in the front of PC. All three are giving me the shock! Going to fire up notebook now and see if I get shock from there too.

Sounds like a bad cable. Somehow the +5 line is getting to the ground, which is then making contact with the case when plugged in. It's shocking no doubt, but I wouldn't worry about dying off that.
Regardless, I would use a different cable.

Get shock using new cable that came with phone and 2 other cables from ipods past.
It's shocking no doubt, but I wouldn't worry about dying off that.
Yeah, I'm not worried about dying, but will my phone survive?!
At any rate, it's not a problem as long as I don't touch the bezel when placing or removing from dock. I'll still see if I can duplicate at Apple store, perhaps later this week.

If you've changed cables and USB ports and all, i'd say it the iPhone. Better exchange it!

You should really keep your hand on the phone as it shocks you. Maybe you could develop superpowers and become iphoneman! With the abilities to give customers basic cellphone functions!
but seriously, get that checked out bro.
ps- honda, loving the sig. sweet trailer.

It may be happening because your computer isn't grounded properly (as in the third prong on your power outlet). This happens over sees a lot where they don't have any grounding cables, and touching pretty much any metal part connected to the pc will shock you.

Thanks Nutchos. It actually was my computer not being grounded properly! (third prong had been removed).
Many Thanks Again :P
