well i have to admit, i am 100% glad i switched to the 3g. i originally wasn't going to do it, as my phone was jailbroken and customized so nicely (i had so many sweet apps on it) but my sister broke my old one in vegas, i got a free replacement, sold it for 350, and now i got the white 16gb one and came out 10 bucks ahead. i have to say that 3g speeds are amazing, its like being on wifi all the time. i love the sleek white plastic back (i was a bit pessimistic about this when i first heard it was plastic), it smaller and seems to be lighter.
my only issue is i am going to jailbreak it soon but as a longtime ziphone user i am not too educated about the pwnage and how it works. i will have to do it soon and check it out as more 3rd party apps are available. i mainly want customize, video recorder, vwallpaper, and mxtube & finder. i'm sure more 3rd party apps are being written every day so i can't wait to jailbreak. so for any of you on the edge about upgrading to the 3g, do it, it is awesome.

Agreed. But the features you want should come in the App Store in due time. I jailbbroke my 1st gen but won't compromise my warranty this time.

Im glad I switched too...but if you put the V1 and V2 against each other you will see the V2 is actually a tad wider

I agree too, I wasn't going to do it either, but I also got a white 16g because my 4g was not enough space for me anymore. I am totally happy I did it. I love the new phone.

The iPhone 3G really is necessary for using the apps. On the edge iPhone you cant even receive calls when listening to Pandora for example. 3G & 3rd party apps were needed to make the iPhone a real smartphone. I am totally satisfied with my new iPhone 3G, it is an amazing device. For me the best new features are 3G!!!!, streaming radio, image saving(from email or safari), racing games, new contacts app, GPS & all the business apps in the app store.

i honestly think i must have had a bad battery on my V1 iphone because the battery in my 3g is SOOOOOO much better. i didn't even charge it last night and got through almost all of today (and the day before obviously) on a single charge. maybe it was a blessing in disguise that my old battery sucked cause this one seems to kick ass

haha i've actually had a bunch of people say that. johnny drama is my boy, such a classic character, can't wait for the new season of entourage to come out....

I love my iPhone 3G. Thankfully, I spent months getting educated on v1 and 3G iPhones and found out what it can and can't do. And with that I made an educated purchase.
I'm just excited to see how far the 3G can take mobile computing.

It doesn't seem like many people here is appreciate 3G's multi-language capability!
Hey, all my words in my 3G is in Japanese!
I love it!
And of course, love the 3G! always connected the net!
Your love of the 3G is warranted and truly valid. I, too, could not be happier with my purchase....and even after 16 days of playing with it, I feel I have only scratched the surface.

Ooo... I wouldn't say "scratched the surface"! :gasp:
I, too, love this phone and don't have a single regret about upgrading.. but it never would have happened at the $600 price point.

^^
Yeah at $600 dollars I would have to save like another 4 paychecks haha!
-Well atleast I can laugh now, cause if the price wasnt "subsidized" we would all be paying $700 dollars stock from apple to have a 16gigger and $600 dollars for an 8gigger:foot:

With my INvisibleShield installed on my 3G, I don't think scrathing the surface is going to be a problem I need to worry about.......But definitely was not the best choice of words in regards to the 3G, I agree. :laugh2:
Same here on the price (hence why i stayed far away from the v1, in tandem with how little space was available Gig wise on v1)....then again, we are getting lashed with the cost on the monthly bills, where they eventually recoup the full price, and then some......But I choose to ignore that fact. :2cool:

I agree with y'all about the 3G. I'm happy I upgraded. It makes the original feel like a tank by comparison. Regardless of the actual specifications it feels way way lighter and thinner. I actually love the smooth feel of the plastic back. It's true that it it just a little wider and thicker than the original, but when you consider how much they thinned the edges, on average the thickness has to be considerably less. They should be getting more kudos for improving the packaging of the components. Battery life is certainly an issue with the only two real capability upgrades - the 3G and especially the GPS. But, it is what it is, and I'd rather have the option of having the features when I need them than not.
Since I sold my V1 for a ridiculous price I am now actually ahead money-wise on iPhone hardware overall...
