Best Audio/Line level audio out(Headphone vs. Dock connector)

I hear many claims that outputting your sound from the dock connector provides superior audio using true line level audio output as compared to just using the headphone jack. Can anyone confirm this? (I am using a "monster icable for car" cable from the apple store that uses the headphone jack and it sounds good but could always be better.)

could be possible.

after all, the headphone jack is a powered output (meaning, as with any amplified device, the higher the power, the possibility of noise is introduced) and i THINK the dock connector aint.

so with all things being equal, i would go with the dock output.

now i havent physically opened up the iphone and see what the internals are... but if it's like any electronic gadget i have seen in my life, then go with the UNPOWERED output.

The dock connector is far far better. Think of it like a car stereo, its a pre-amp connector as compared to the headphone jack that would be like a RCA converter.

I've used both and my dock connector blows the headphone jack out of the water.
