Since this is hidden in a reply to another thread I'm just out right posting it.
If you want to unlock and jailbreak your V1 iphone with 2.0 software go to this link. There are step by step instructions along with pictures and download links to all needed files. I used this and it worked great first try and I have never unlocked before.
THIS FIRST LINK IS FOR THE V1 IPHONE, NOT THE 3G IPHONE
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1572
Now if you want to jailbreak your 3G iphone(does not unlock right now) use this link, I assume it is just as simple and trustworthy but I haven't tried it.
THIS SECOND LINK IS FOR THE 3G IPHONE, NOT FOR THE V1

Good luck!

It should. The person in the other thread is having problems because he tried to unlock a 3G iphone with that link that was for the V1 iphone, I do not believe it was because he was using vista.
If there was anyone else then I don't know...
Basically the way it works is you install winpwn, start it (this is the only stage where vista could be problematic), tell it to create a custom firmware for you, then open itunes, start iphone in DFU mode, and tell itunes to restore to the custom firmware.
If for some reason winpwn doesn't run at all on vista then you won't even get to the stage where you have to plug your iphone into the computer, so I don't think there is any risk to the phone.

yes I can confirm it works. I have a V1 with 2.0 and I unlocked using this posted method and I tested it with a friend's tmobile sim card, it worked fine.

Any one have any idea why when I get to "step 5" Pwnage says
"7/27/2008 12:43:40 AM - Unknown file: C:\Users\**\Desktop\Pwnage\iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Res tore.ipsw"
I downloaded it from the link in the Instructions.
EDIT: the file was bad, so I used the one from Apple and it worked fine.

Do you have to upgrade your v1 phone to 2.0 the old fashioned way before you attempt to JB it or can you begin doing it if it's still at 1.1.13 or 1.1.14?

I'm not sure. When I did it I had already upgraded the standard way through itunes, and my phone was not unlocked or jailbroken.
But since all you are doing with this unlock is installing a custom 2.0 firmware I would think it doesn't matter what firmware you are upgrading from. Either way the old is getting wiped out and replaced by the custom 2.0.
Thanks for the links...I found a link on that website for instructions with a Mas, which is very helpful.
I am still nervous about JBreaking......I think I will wait a couple more weeks before attempting to make sure everything is smooth, as well as for more features to be out.

dude you just bumped a post from nearly a year ago. i absolutely applaud you for using the search function, but if you have a legit problem make a thread about it and specify what your problem is other than "i am not sure". i will be happy to help you out and walk you through the process.
