i'm upgrading the optical drive in my macbook 2.0Ghz from a (combo drive to a superdrive) and had a quick question before i begin the process. Does making this upgrade require me to change any sort of driver updates or anything or is it simply just a plug and play type upgrade? I got the UJ-857-C model from ebay which is the 8x and is the standard apple issued superdrive. so does installing this optical drive require that i get a driver update and if so- where can i get this driver from?

thanks in advance!

i don't know for sure, but my guess is that OSX has everything you'll need built-in... especially if it's the standard-issue superdrive.

Just installed the new UJ-867 drive and it works GREAT... just for the heads up- doesn't require any additional drivers or plugins.

used the tutorial at www.ifixit.com to complete the swap: VERY DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS
