View Full Version : I have 2 issues: reception & iphone crashing. Thinking about returning the phone.
I am supposedly in a 3G area, but I always drop off to edge (1 bar). also, applications have been crashing on me lately resulting in the iphone restarting itself.
My question is: do you guys think these problems are a software issue more than anything else?
It has gotten to the point where data has become unusable at home because I only have 1 bar of edge. I'm contemplating returning the phone because I don't think I can wait for 2.0.1 to come out and have the possibility of paying the ETF if it doesn't resolve my issues.
What do you guys think?

This is one reason why I hate that there isn't an official word out yet from Apple that acknowledges these issues. The 3G reception is really out of hand, and so are the rest of the software glitches. I really do hope that something is announced soon too.

Mine has reset it self twice today. Have you tried turning off wifi on the phone? That helps sometimes.

I usually read the reviews from other iPhone users. It seems as if alot of these applications are making the phone crash. That can either be apple or the the apps software makers fault. As far as signal when i'm on 3g at the house it's usually 1 or 2 bars where as when Im on edge I usually have 3-full bars. Outside 3g has a perfect 5 bars.

I would suggest a restore (just in case you haven't tried already). If that doesn't seem to do anything visiting an Apple store can't hurt. They might be able to diagnose a problem that could be underlying. If they decide it's bad enough (you complain enough) they may just replace the unit.

The crashing of programs is CERTAINLY a software issue, and I would think they will resolve it soonish (before the end of the year?) if not only because that is apple's thing.
Why does one get an iPhone instead of a Windows Mobile 6 device? Chances are the WM6 device has just as many, if not more features than the iphone (copy paste, mms, all those other complaints everyone and their mother has had with iPhone) but they are buggy. They crash, and also the programs tend to be less user friendly.
One of apple's HUGE selling points (right there with ease of use) is dependability. They need iPhone to not crash. They will fix the problem.
As far as 3G goes I'm not so sure. Like the other poster said he gets 5 full bars outside, a lot of the times I think it has to do with how dense the housing is around you. I lived in a condo and got horrible reception then I'd walk outside and get perfect reception, I think just because the condos were so dense it was difficult for the radio signals to get through.
That was a much longer post than necessary.

I agree whole-heartedly.
