View Full Version : DF canceled for no reason, HELP!!

so i've been following my DF for the past week using the at&t site, the other site, and the application that another member so kindly put together (thanks by the way, its most helpful). it was typical, on b/o off of b/o, blah blah blah.
later in the week the guy before shipped, then the guy after me shipped... then this morning the order was just canceled. i obviously didn't cancel it, and never recieved any notification that it was going to be canceled. :confused:
anyone have any idea what this might mean? i tried the store and they won't answer and i can't get through on 611 either.
(for what its worth i order and paid for an 8g)

Re-order my A#$. I would be at the store I placed the order and find out why. You may have to get firm but nice and demand that you be put at the top of the list pronto.

thats the game plan, but i have to work tonight so thats out of the question. i wasn't sure if the stores would maybe cancel the DF and give stock out of the store. sounds really unorthodox, but thats the only expanation i can think of.

I doubt that is the case since the person before and after you had their orders filled, but they certainly need to see that you get one out of store stock. If you have to reorder it could be another month before you get it.

Any chance you can post that application? I seemed to have missed that somehow.
As for the problem with the cancellation. I would go to the AT&T Store and look into it, but I'm sure you'll get it, probably just an error on their site.

the app is over in the DF thread about half way through. i'm working or i'd link it up for up. kinda busy, sorry :frown:

same thing happened to me. i called the store, they look it up and said that it's not cancelled. it's still pending. they were not able to explain why it says cancelled online, but they said that they are looking at the warehouse system, and it still giving them the option to cancel it. they said that if it was cancelled already, it wouldn't give them that option. i'll call them again tomorrow...

For a while shipped units were mistakenly statused as 'cancelled'. But I was certain they had that corrected a couple of days back?

How can you tell if the person before or after you has shipped? My order number is a combination of letters and numbers.

man, i got totally hosed on this deal. (this is probably happening all over the place)
long story short...
they ran my card at time or purchase (debit card as credit, i signed, no PIN number). those funds were set as "pending" with my bank (and unavailable to me, looked like they were gone). this took my available funds to about $31 in this account (just an extra account i keep around, not my actual checking for bill paying and whatnot).
so when they went to ship it, they ran the card number at another location than the point of sale. so the bank didn't recognize it as the merchant trying to get the pending funds, they recognized it as totally different merchant and there were not enough funds for it... so... they canceled it.
so i go to my online banking immediately and sure enough there it is... $213.83 pending for at&t, all they have to do is get it.
punchline: they will do nothing but "let" me DF again. i ordered 7/12 around 3pm the wait was "7-10" days and now i have to wait "10-21"

Wow. That's some bullsh*t right there. I was going to use my debit card as a credit too but ended up using my Amex instead. Good thing. Sorry to hear that.
Now that I think about it there are a couple orders before mine in that direct fulfillment application you told me about that are coming up as canceled. Like you said it is probably happening all over, that's probaly what happened with those because the AT&T rep said, "They have this information written in red letters on his screen, so he's going to read it to me because if it's in read it's important and the customer should know." After telling me that, what he read was "Your direct fulfillment order can't be canceled after you place it." So I was wondering how those orders got canceled.

i dont know what bank you are banking with, but you might look into a reserve account. i have that on mine (only $1000 on reserve) and when my account goes over due to multiple charges for the same thing, the reserve account covers for it.

I would be going to the bank and getting $213.83 of somebody's behind. That is total BS and incompetence on someone's part and you have to pay the price.

well, at&t credited my debit card but told me i had to re-order and wait 10-21 days.
sooo.... thanks for all your insight and kind words but i'ma hit up craigslist and i'll see you in the regular iphone forum.

I'm not sure if the bank gave you that explanation or at&t, but at&t ran all the cards through for authorization only! Meaning that they only wanted to verify that you had the funds available. After a few day a authorization drops off your account which means when they go to ship the phone they would need to actually "charge" your account this time.
The only reason it shows up as "pending" is because you used a debit card linked to your checking account. It doesn't matter if you use it as debit or credit it is still not a credit card because of course it's linked to the cash in your account. Long story short the bank is the only one that can put a hold on your money.
This was obviously a bank problem or a problem with the funds just not being available. It sucks...
