iPhone 3G Availability Question

Ok, this iPhone release has not been a good one for me. I've been using the tracker on apple.com (http://www.apple.com/retail/iphone/availability.html) to see if my local Apple Stores are getting any in the night before so I can go down and pick up my iPhone 3G in the morning. Last night it said 16GB Black were all that were going to be in today, so I called in the morning to verify they didn't have any 16GB white and the girl said they don't have any. So I called 30 minutes ago to see if they will get any in for Sat. morning and the guy said they don't know when iPhone's are coming in, just check daily. Right after it hit 9PM I looked at the availability tracker on apple.com and it says 16GB white were in stock today and the 16GB black were out of stock, when last night they were going to be in stock today and the white were going to out of stock.

Has anyone else had problems with this site stating there is going to be iPhones and the store but when you get there none came in?

It seems like it's up to who you talked on the phone at apple store for availability.
One of my friend who lost her phone, and she was thinking to get an iPhone3G.

I checked availability online and they said two apple store in dallas has availability, so I told her to go to the apple store to get them (more like to get inline!).

I haven't heard all day from her, assuming she didn't get it since she didn't have a phone to make a call.

Then she texted me from her iPhone end of the evening!

Here is what she said...
Before she head to the apple store I told her to go next morning, she called (home phone) the stores up.
Both of the store told her they are out.
So she praying if att might have it..so she went att store in a mall, and of course, out of stock... then some guy told her, with his iphone bag on his hand, to go to the apple store in a mall... where I told her to go, and where she called was told they don't have any....

She went in the store and voila, she walked out with her phone...

I would suggest, if you really want to get one, you might want to take a rist to just go to apple store instead of calling... because, it seems like not every apple stuff know about the availability..

I had the same experience. Apple site said that the store I picked would only have the Black 8gb. however when I arrived 15 minutes before they opened I was thrilled to hear they had all the choices and I was able to get my White 16gb.
The staff stated that until they open the box they really don't know what they have.
