Is it pointless to put an anti virus program on a mac???

Yes, at least to me anyway. There are no existing viruses for the Mac, and while there are trojans and spyware, you most likely won't have to deal with them providing you don't spend all of your time downloading software from unknown developers.

I tried it and had it for a month, and got irritated cause every time I would wake up i had to click 2 dialogues saying I have zero viruses. hahahah

Yeah thats what i figured, just wanted to know cause i get it free from the school but i dont think i am going to install it.

In case you ever feel like you may have installed some nasty software, I recommend using Virus Barrier (http://www.intego.com/VirusBarrier/); it's the most widely-used and trusted spyware/adware/malware/etc protector for OS X.
