Push Calendar woes

I use my office outlook calendar a lot and have configured the iPhone to sync it over the air. But often times I see that if I receive a meeting invite and accept it using my Outlook itself (on my laptop), I still see the invite in the iPhone as a "May Be" in the Invitations screen (bottom right button in Calendar view). And if I accept it again, it sends an email to the meeting requester (who had already been notified earlier when I accepted through Outlook). And if I simply delete a record from this "Invitations" screen, then it wipes out the meeting from my Outlook as well.... does anyone know a way out?
