why does my 3G show the EDGE icon?

Hey guys,
just got my 2nd iphone 3g, the first one had to get returned for problems. Now the new one says EDGE and not 3g in my house. what do i do? Is there a setting to fix this??

yes. settings>general>network>enable 3G

or else your signal is not good and you can't get 3G in your house.

how about other areas you use the phone? how are they?

it is on. thats strange because it was showing 3g earlier and my first one showed it no prob.

where do you live? 3g network may be down there, or just not strong because of interference in your home.

my 3G usually turns off right outside city limits.

when there are 5 bars of edge available and only 2 bars of 3g, it will probably switch to edge

but again make sure its enabled
