View Full Version : Well it was fun while it lasted.
It's been over 24 hours and I have no solution to the fact that my itunes will not recognize my iphone. I've spent probably 10 hours out of the last 24 trying to come up with a solution, and I can't figure it out.
I activated the phone on someone else's computer and it seems to work on everyone else's except mine. Either my USB ports are not working correctly or not compatible. Either way I can't spend any more time with the phone. I'm going to be busy with work for the next 2 or so weeks working everyday and am not going to have the time to spend on this, or the money to buy a new computer.
It's just really a shame, because I'm really liking this phone. The interface is incredible, and it's easy to use. There are some things missing, but for the most part it's lived up to the hype for me. It also sucks because it looks like the process for activating and using this device is really easy, and my piece of **** computer isn't complying. I had to set this up on a computer that is 4 years older than the one I have. Unless I can figure something out by tomorrow, I'm SOL.
My iphone experience will last all of 36 or so hours. I'll pay the 10% and move on. The phone goes back tomorrow.

i feel sooo sorry for you
but cant you just use your old cell phone for another two weeks?

i hope you find a solution

You using 64-Bit Vista or 64-bit XP? The iPhone does not work with either one of those.

If you are using a Mac you have to be on version 10.4 Tiger not Panther or older stuff. Take your phone and computer to an Apple Store (if you have a laptop) and let a Mac Genius help you out. Don't give up so easily, this is the best device I have ever put my hands on.

yea, i think so too. It is simply amazing. I dont know about you guys, but when I use edge it is about half as fast as wifi. How did they get it to be so fast? I remember when I had my sidekick the edge was so slow. I can not emphasize how fast it is.

You have Service pack 2 for XP? if not, that's probably causing a lot of your problems. Nothing works without SP2.

STTOOOOOP!!! STAPLES EMPLOYEE MAN TO THE RESCUE!!!
I would recommend getting a USB adapter. What that does, is you plug it into a USB port, and it makes more USB ports. Also, Staples is running a Computer Check-up special for $9.99, explain your problem, and they will help. Also, try AT&T and Apple first. don't give up YET. If for some reason it was the dock not working with that USB port, it might work with another one. No, I am not advertising Staples, you can find anything like this at Office Max, Wal-Mart and most other stores that sell electronics.

Go to your local Apple store, sign up with an appointment at the Genius Bar and get them to fix it for you.
Don't give up on the iPhone.

The Genius Bar at the Apple store sums up why Apple Rocks. When is the last time you could go to the Dell Store and talk to someone (Not From India) and actually sit there and have him help fix your computer. Oh that's right NEVER!
This is the little stuff PC people don't understand about Apple. Please go to the store and you will see why they call it the cult of Mac. :laugh2:

really? is there a way to check what version I have? Bit wise
Hang in there. If the activation will go through, you'll quickly forget the torturous saga of having to wait another day.

Oh, I'm already using the phone. I just activated it on another PC. I just can't sync anything from my home computer. I'm going to have to go to a family members house or something anytime I want to re-sync.
Maybe I will contact the apple store and talk to the guy. Never really thought about that.

Trust me you will not leave disappointed. Book an appointment online before you go at the concierge at apple.com/retail
You will see what all of the other Mac users already know.

You would know if you ahd them as they are significantly more expensive than regular windows. But anyhoo, right click on your "My computer" icon and select properties. It will say something like:
system
Microsoft windows XP
Professional
version 2002
Service Pack 2

If it doesn't say 64 bit then don't worry.
As for media center edition that could be the problem as it isn't technically microsoft windows xp. Haven't seen that as an issue anywhere yet though.

OK I have tried since 7 last night getting my itunes on my iphone ( uninstalling itunes restalling etc.even upgrading my AOL page) OK. Go to your itunes page. Click on music under the heading Library. Put a check mark in the boxes of the songs you want on your iphone. Then on your iphone information page for Music put a check mark on Sync music and sync all songs and playlist. (hint it only does the songs you checked earlier) Then click sync on the bottom. IT WORKED FOR ME!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!
