That's right folks. Take another AT&T sim and put it in your 3G iPhone and it will work! I verified it with my Family Plan V3xx. Another guy on HOFO verified internet and voice on a BB sim.

Someone has to try it with a T-Mobile SIM and see if it works.

NO BS Here....I don't spread rumors.

Other AT&T SIMs should work. No surprises there. It doesn't mean your new iPhone is SIM-Unlocked.

First, I didn't say it was sim unlocked for other carriers.

Second, if you had the original iPhone you would know that you can't put another AT&T sim in it. You will get a popup that says invalid sim.

Third, this is important because it also means that the 3G iPhone will work on the $20 iPhone plan.

Smart guy.

Why would you "steal" service from a corporation?

I am more interested in using it overseas with prepaid sims, as opposed to paying AT&T's international rates. As for the quote above, i agree that one could say that is stealing, but only based on the carrier's definition of a smartphone. That is to say that my Nokia N95 is much more of a smartphone than my iPhone, and I access 3G with a Medianet plan.

So to AT&T, yes perhaps I am stealing. To me, I am just switching my sim from an N95 to an iPHone. I am still paying for unlimited data.

so you're saying the phone doesn't even need to be unlocked to put in a different at&t sim?

That would be a nice breakthrough compared to the V1

That's correct. Just take out your 3G iPHone sim and put in another AT&T sim and you will get service. However, you'll want to have data on that other sim I am sure. Otherwise you might get some pretty outrageous data bills.

But we're all giving them permission to stick their hand in our pocket.

No matter what, your still paying the $30 data plan even though you don't have that specific sim card in your phone. So basically, there's no benefit.
