does anyone else have a problem with thier iphone 3g when your in a call and the other peron hangs up first then the screen goes black and doesnt come back on for a while?

I don't think any problems you're having have anything to do with 3g. It's the 2.0 software that's buggy like a mother. They need to release a patch ASAP.
