great site to test your internet speed.
do it a couple times for each connection (wifi,3g or edge) becuase sometimes it goes eitehr too low or too high so i just kept doing it until i got speeds that were about the same for each connection.
hold the home button and then hit the sleep/wake button to take screenshots that go straight to your photos in all iphone 3gs/2.0 firmware enabled iphone or itouch. send it to your comp (email or whatever you want) then upload to a image site such as imageshack.us

cool site. I'm on v1 and got 260 and 232 on Edge and 2679 on my Time Capsule network.

I went to my local ATT store late yesterday just to check the new one out. I was unimpressed with the 3G speed on the demo unit and as usual could not get anyone to help that knew anything it seemed.

Ought to go back and get my commission as I sold a guy on going ahead and taking the plunge but taking out my old one and showing him all the tricks :).

Is 3G just for data or is it for phone calls also? I see others complaining about dropped calls on the 3G, didn't make sense.

i think its for calls too well i know that it enables the ability to search the web and do other data using things while in a phone call which you cannot do with edge but can always do with wifi. otehr than that im not exactly sure. but i also remember steven hobs sayin 5 hours of 3g talk time in the keynote so i guess so.

Does the iPhone 3G limit your speeds on wifi? I have an insanely fast cable connection and a wireless router in my apartment, so should I expect to get comparable speeds to what I get on my laptop or will it be limited by the iPhone's capabilities at all?

i got 4.55 mbps on wifi 773.7 kbps
i got 3.02 mbps on 3g 350 kbbs
i got wopping 38.3 kbbs on edge ohh yeah and 0.14 mbps

Iphone Wifi seems to max out at around 5.75 mbps. I consistently get between 5.63 and 5.75. We have 30 mpbs service at my house and my computer gets about 27 mbps download on our wifi.

3G service so far is absolutely horrible. I'm in a New York suburb in Jersey. The whole town I live in is, according to AT&T's website, entirely 3G compatible.

According to that website, the best 3g speed I get at my house is 148 kbps. I was getting 500 or so at the apple store. I get 2 or 3 bars 3G service.

Edge speeds in my house, according to that website, are 54 kbps. I have 5 bars edge service.

Pretty disappointing :-(.

Wow man that is a very low EDGE speed, which I guess crosses over to your crappy 3G speed. Did you ever test your speed when you had the first version? You sound like you are in a dead zone or something.

They need to edit the last line on the Stats page. Very misleading to the average person. They look at that and think 3G is really over 10x faster than EDGE.

And for some reason it doesn't work on my iphone. I click "Start Test" and it loads but still blank.

Hmm, Edge never was that good around here--but I've seen it as high as 125, 130 depending on the day. The best I've ever seen edge is at the Outer Banks in NC--I got around 250/275 kbps there.
