is this happening to everyone else?
everytime i sync my iphone to itunes when it gets to the end and says "backing up" it takes about ten mins to back up. on my old iphone it used to sync the iphone fast. is this happening to everyone or is it just me?

My NON 3G iPhone seems to take a lot longer backing up now, too. Takes about 5-8 minutes, where it was a minute or so before.
Wonder why?

alright so im not the only one. then it sems to be something in the 2.0 software not just the iphone 3g. maybe it takes longer cuz it has to back up all our apps from the appstore now? just a guess becuase ive got about 25 apps from the appstore now lol:2cool:

Could be, but I would think it'd only backup new changes, not the whole darn thing! I guess I'll have to sync less often, I suppose.

which is a bummer because the one time you dont sync for a good week you need to restore your iphone and then you dont have a recent backup so you have to use the lats one you did lol idk bout you but thats happend to me a bunch of times when i had my V1 iphone becuase i was too lazy to sync it as often as possible. now that i try to sync as often as possible they do this and make me not want to. :frown:

It has to if its to restore everything (why it can't just reload the media based on a file list I don't understand) - its down to iTune 7.7 not the iPhone FW/SW

well i know that but i was wondering why it takes 10 mins now to do something that only took a couple mins or less before the new itunes 7.7/2.0 firmware

It did not backup everything, you had to restore and then sync to recover your personal stuff - it only backup the core software pre 7.7 - you lost contacts, events, media files etc. on restore and was then required to sync to get your personal files back. Now if you backup it backs up everything and you only have to restore not restore and sync. It takes the same time but is one step not two. Backup now should be compared to sync then backup on pre 7.7 iTunes

Okay.. so heres the fix.. same issue was happening to me... DELETE FACEBOOK! reinstall after backup is complete, but facebook is causing all the trouble. I Let my iphone sit for 2 hours today before i had enough and decided to fix the damn thing. Facbook is the #1 killer of backup time. Also i use "AppSniper" (Love that app btw.. i recommend it to everyone) if you use it make sure you go into the apps config and delete the icon cache.. Deleting facebook and clearing the appsniper cache made my backup drop from 2+ hours(no idea if it was ever going to finish.. stayed halfway for an hour and a half) 15 minutes. (i got all 9 pages filled with apps.. 15mins isnt bad)
hope this helps!
