Hey all, just thought I'd drop in with a question. I got my 3G just in time for my trip to Hawaii. I dropped a few movies on there and about 3 gigs of music already, and I would love to be able to watch them on the plane and my 4 hour overlay in Phoenix, AZ!

Could anyone recommend a battery "booster" that would be compatible with the 3G? I'd guess that the proprietary iphone usb cable from the first gen iphone is the same, but I'm not sure.

Anyways, I leave for the islands in 6 days and I'd love to get something before I leave! I HATE long flights! Not anxiety or anything, just slight claustrophobia, so I need something to keep me distracted!

Thank you for any help!

Yeah, the juice doesnt work with the new 3G. It doesnt fit in the cradle form. And whatever it is that the guy got from best buy isnt showing up in his link, so thats of no help either. I searched dozens of pages on the best buy iPhone accessories to no avail :(

Turn off all antennas. Only use 2g if you are on the ground or not at all. Turn that off when in the air. Turn the brightness to half or less. You will have no problems using all ipod features all day. You can make it through a few movies, cartoons, and then play some music in between there. Good luck.

I've been using the APC Mobile Power Pack (http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=UPB10%20) with my v1 iPhone, and it's worked great. It's a standard USB port for "outgoing" power, so the standard sync cable works fine, and uses a miniusb for "incoming" power to charge. Gives me about 2.5 full charges of the iPhone off one full charge on the pack.

what do you guys think about this?

I know the phone wouldn't fit in the little holder, but you could just plug it in to the connector right?

Then just carry a pocketfull of AA batteries...

That looks very promising. Has anyone heard of the iGo powerXtender? Radioshack carries them, and they make one that is specific to the first gen iPhone.

at most airports they sell "ipod" battery chargers, those should help you with your long flight just fine in the iphone

Yeah, but I dont feel like paying one of their "premium" prices...aka getting charged an arm and a leg for something I can buy ahead of time for a fraction of the price. Right now Im leaning towards the iGo, because I can physically buy it in the store, and the reviews are mostly positive.

yeah for sure. I just wish one of the hundreds of people who have read this thread could give us an opinion of one they've actually used.
