Ok to recap... iphone v1 stolen on 6/11/08. I have made numerous phone calls and store visits to ATT to confirm eligibility for 3G. Last call 2 days ago. I was told that many notes have been added to my account by various managers etc. and I'm good to go. I call this the "eharmony" phase of this relationship.
Today, I bounce out of bed with a goal for today. My plan is to back over the POS razor I've been forced to use for the last month once my new iPhone has been activated. Yahoo!!! This is the "anticipating the first date" phase.
I show up to the first ATT store and wait in line for about an hour chatting it up with folks in line with me. We are laughing, blissfully unaware of what lies ahead. We are told they are out of phones and in fact they have been out of phones since 9:00. It is now 2:00pm. I guess it was too much to ask that they post a sign or periodically ask if any of the 14 people in line are waiting for the 3G. Good times!
I run to the mall to the Apple store. The line is long but they have iPhones left. I consider this point in the story to be the " First date off to a slow start but about to get better" phase
I wait for 2 hours in this line, not laughing as hard or chatting as much but making sure to tell the people in front of me and behind me about EverythingIcafe ( your welcome Chris ) I also tell my fellow queue sitters to make sure they are eligible for the upgrade. Silly rabbits, thinking this phone is only going to cost them $199. Many frantic phone calls are made by my new friends. Half of them leave.. sounds like a bunch of merchant marines! This is the " out at the club" phase.
Pretty soon a teal shirted angel appears to tell me its my turn. "Do you want to come up for a drink" phase. I'm at the counter.. beautiful 16 g in my hand its white and gorgeous I cant believe how sleek it is. I love the new curves. You know what phase this is! The Apple reps stylus is flying over her tablet... I'm almost there........ Oops! We've hit a snag.
It appears my status has never been changed by ATT. We can still recover though. I call ATT. I'm hanging on to the hope that we can resolve this since I have spoken to many managers multiple times. No go. I am now in the review process with ATT. I leave empty handed. *sigh*.
ATT has 72 hours to give me a decision. " Wonder if he's gonna call" phase.
To everyone that is using their 3G tonight congrats. I hope to be one of you on Wednesday.
Sincerely,
Colleen
