problem with locating features.. please help!

I just got my 3g iphone working.

i cannot seem to get google maps.. loopt, or any other app that is location based to get my current location right.

it always zooms in on a street that was my apartment that i moved out of 2 months ago. That street is also 2 states and a 7 hour drive away..

everytime i try to click the button to locate me on the bottom left of the google maps app it just goes back to that same street really far away.

anyone know what i can do to fix this?

It worked fine when i tried this stuff on my old iphone yesterday

some more details in hopes that someone can help me:


1) when I am at home in my router's vicinity, it locates me incorrectly at my former apartment.

2) when I am away from home and my router, GPS works fine

3) If i chose forget network and am not connected to my router at home, it STILL puts me at the incorrect apartment address.

4) If I turn off wifi completely on the phone, it just searches forever and never puts me anywhere.

5) My moms phone works fine, it locates us at home properly.

so it seems to be some kind of link between my phone (which btw i bought this weekend and has never even seen my old apartment) and my router, which i dont recall ever inputting a location in.


i tried resetting the router.. there doesnt appear to be any setting in my phone i can change.. i dont know what to do, this is irritating the heck out of me and no one seems to know how to help me at apple.

also its an apple time capsule router
