Hey guys, I'm pretty much standing on top of the fence on the 2.0 Upgrade, I'm using Jailbroken 1.1.4 and Pretty much fully Customized, Is it worth it to Switch? Will all my Apps and themes (Summerboard) be erased? Do we have pretty much no choice on the looks of the software right now??

All of your modifications will be erased. However, in my opinion, the benefits of the 2.0 software far outweigh those of jailbreaking.

That's What I'm thinking, I use AOL Radio on my MacBook all day long and Seeing this FREE APP for the iPhone is almost reason enough for me to Upgrade!

there's also Pandora Radio, which is the greatest thing ever created by man.

This is what I need: Springboard background, 5-icon dock, bsd subsystem, ssh, apps running in the background or mess with system files (e.g. Intelliscreen, Kate, Customize, BossPrefs, MobileFinder), and basic apps that Apple will never allow: NES/SNES/GENESIS emulators, Terminal, quake4iPhone (http://www.zodttd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2560), and vlc4iPhone.

Those above things, to me, are more important than a few cool apps. I'll wait until a public 2.0 jailbreaking method is safe and easy. ALSO, and even more importantly, we'll have to see what jailbreak developers are able to do to port their 1.1.4 apps over to 2.0.

I did the same thing, with the same results.

Actually the only app I would like on my 1.1.4 is Pandora. I'll just wait until I can safely jailbreak 2.0.

I do feel somewhat despondent that I did not pickup the 3G yesterday when I had the chance. I was already to drop the dime, but the phone looked cheap to me anyway, much cheaper than my V1. I walked away, people couldn't believe it.

with pandora, you create your own stations. To start, you enter an Artist, song, or composer you want to listen to, and it'll play a song from them, and after that it will mix-in songs that match the "musical DNA" of that song or artist. You can then give the songs a thumbs up/down to fine-tune the station, as well as add or remove artists/songs to the station.

here's a little blurb about the work behind-the-scenes:

On January 6, 2000 a group of musicians and music-loving technologists came together with the idea of creating the most comprehensive analysis of music ever.

Together we set out to capture the essence of music at the most fundamental level. We ended up assembling literally hundreds of musical attributes or "genes" into a very large Music Genome. Taken together these genes capture the unique and magical musical identity of a song - everything from melody, harmony and rhythm, to instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics, and of course the rich world of singing and vocal harmony. It's not about what a band looks like, or what genre they supposedly belong to, or about who buys their records - it's about what each individual song sounds like.

Since we started back in 2000, we've carefully listened to the songs of tens of thousands of different artists - ranging from popular to obscure - and analyzed the musical qualities of each song one attribute at a time. This work continues each and every day as we endeavor to include all the great new stuff coming out of studios, clubs and garages around the world.

It has been quite an adventure, you could say a little crazy - but now that we've created this extraordinary collection of music analysis, we think we can help be your guide as you explore your favorite parts of the music universe.

We hope you enjoy the journey.
