Here's a youtube video of some at&t employees unboxing the new iphones. When they get down to the White ones, they're packaged in white boxes. Leave to Apple to spare no expense. Proprietary packaging! Who would have guessed!

Dont know but did you see how they locked 'em up in the slide down type container? Is that something AT&T does with all phones?

probably not, but that's the part that got me thinking about the motivation of the video creator.

who gives a **** that you keep them in a locked case? Clearly some ATT employee on a power trip.

I agree. I mean the phone is a phone. Its not like if it were make with diamonds like the new N95 Diamond edition. 12000 Euros.

If you look at the video, you can see other phones on the other shelves. They probably just lock up their more expensive phones like blackberries and tilts.

I've always thought Apple should sell them with the engravings like they do on the iPods.

You can have it engrave on Things Remembered for $60.00
Not all of the stores will do it you just need to find one that they will
it is a high ticket item.
2 cents more

Not worth $60. Apple does it for free on the iPods.

That's probably their initial allotment. Last year the at&t stores only got 50 to start with, so 80 would be a 60% increase.

8 boxes, 20 iphones per box. hmmmm 160 iphones per att store. thats a pretty good amount. they wont sell out.

Nope, there's 20.

My local ATT store said they got 160 as well... so that sounds right as well.

Sorry, Cols seems right to me. Look closely at the box - there is 2 rows of 5, and seemingly not a second row under it.

Looks like you guys are right... but my ATT store did say that they have 160 for the initial launch.

Most likely each store gets a different number of boxes to allocate for varied population distribution, and account for a cluster of AT&T stores in a single area.

Most definitely correct. Busier stores in larger cities will get more iphones.
