Does anyone know how much the new data plan is going to cost with the 3G phone? I called AT&T and they told me with 200 texted, it was 45.00 and with 1500 text it is $55 for the datas plans vs what I am paying now $20 and $30 as I have 2 iphones. thats crazy, thats a $25 per month increase for just 1 phone.

How does it work if you have the old price ie $20 for the data plan plus the 200 text, and I just upgrade my my iphone to the 3g iphone, would my plan change price wise at all? To me it shouldn't

It's a $30 data plan. $5 extra if you want 200 texts/month.

Voice plan rate + $30 data plan + $5-$20 texting = your approx. monthly bill

I believe the cheapest voice plan is $39.99 so that would come out to $69.99 with the data plan and extra for text messages. If you don't get a texting plan, texts are $.20 a pop.

I do I would like to keep what I currently have, data plus 200 text, I asked and I currently pay $20 per month for that, now I asked AT&T and they said the new price for that same thing is $45.00

Data plus 200 text msgs is $35, not $45.

Thats what people on here are saying but when I called AT&T they told me $45.00

Basically in a nutshell.. If you want a 3G phone what used to cost you $20 for data/txt will now cost you $35. If you don't want to pay the $15 difference for 3G speeds, GPS, bigger HD then I suggest you keep your v1 iPhone.

well I would still get the 8gb so I would not have a bigger hd, I guess, I will call them and ask again just to make sure.

You are in America, right? Some posters forget to say what country they're from.

Don't be upset for no reason because AT&T screwed up. They are definitely wrong. It's 35, not 45. I think a 125% increase in price over v1 would have been devastating to their ability to pull in buyers for the new iphone.

Sorry, I am in the US.

I still think with the increase it will not lure in as many current customers, if your a new customer, you might not know any different so.

My friend has a Helio phone and he pays $70/month for 3G speeds and texting. So, the AT&T pricing is pretty standard.

That just seems like alot for a cell-phone, guess I will keep my current i-phone, internet speed is not that important to me on a phone.

I guess this is one of the reasons why some will buy the 3G vs others that will keep their current V1. For some, faster internet is "necessary" (not to mention surfing the net while talking on the phone). It's all a matter of opinion and necessity. That difference is what makes the world go 'round:laugh2:

Thank you. I don't bash on people for not "upgrading" their current iPhone or people not getting the iPhone 3G, "its the best thing ever to come, etc." I agree that people should get what they want, but if they feel they dont need it, then stay with what you have. Hey Im an avid PPC (WinMo), but I admit that I find the iPhone V1 and soon the 3G version to be very good. They are 2 different OS' and I like both for their strong and weak points.

What do you think about the Palm Centro phone compared to the iphone?

What do you think about the Palm Centro phone compared to the iphone?

I have a couple of friends who just sold their V1 iphone, and are using only a Palm Centro. Needless to say, they hate it, and can't wait till friday to buy the 3G iphone. The Centro is fine for basic email functions, but doesn't have the versatility of the iphone

I personally dont like it. Had a PALM TREO 650 (Palm OS) and a TREO 750(WinMo OS) and didnt like the small screen, Also, the Centro has an a 1.3 MP vs iPhone of @ least a 2.0 MP one. I would take the V1 iPhone over the CENTRO. Additionally, I hate the browser on the PALM OS, its by far the worst I have ever used. Safari browser is one of the best I have used. On WinMo phones, Skyfire or Opera is the best, however are not oferred only on the HTC Touch Diamond(Opera browser pre-loaded)

Well, what would be the reason(s) you WOULD get the 3G? What would be the reason(s) to keep your current iPhone?

I can understand your concerns. I'm on wifi almost all the time, so I'm pretty much in the same boat as you.

I do too, but it so happens to be sometimes Im in another car & that car doesnt have GPS. So I have had to use my TILT's GPS to nav around areas Im not familiar with. Personally, Im getting the 3G version b/c I like the original iPhone but in the new one it will have 3G ( which I surf the net a lot, about 1-2 hrs/day) and GPS ( which I use @ least once a week.) I'll hit up to 9-12GB of data in a bill, easily.

Yeah its just a toss up I mean I guess I will go to the AT&T store Friday morning, and if its really busy I will just say forget it and if its average I might take a look and purchase. Its not really a BIG deal to me, and I am not going to die if I do not get it.

Im very excited about getting the 3G iPhone, but I will not camp out for it or wait in a overly excessive line for it. I will wait until the line dies down if it indeed is very big.

I'll be paying the $89.99 plan that includes the 900 anytime min. and the unlimited nights and weekends, and that includes the data plan. I'll pay the extra $5 a month for the 200 texts, so my bill will be around $100. Which isn't horrible, but I love technology and don't mind paying for it!

Its $30 without text, $45 for enterprise. text plans are just added onto the data plan a la carte
