Ok this looks near perfect for GPS navigation and movie watching in the car, and it is only $7.40 shipped!

I bought it here (http://www.meritline.com/iphone-car-mount-holder-643.html), and put in the code AIAC40POFF for 40% off (expires July 13th). Do you guys think it will fit the 3G model? I know the youtube video title says so, but I'm not so sure...

EDIT: It fits the 3G. You need to trim the top plastic lip a little bit though, I used some nail clippers. Also, it's still at discounted price, but now as cheap as $7.40. I think it's like $14 now with the code (they provide it at their site.)

It seems pretty tough not to give it a try at that price, but it looks like it snaps in pretty tightly. The difference between the flat back and the curved back seems like it would have a significant impact. No?

How did you get it for $7.40? I went to the check out just to see how much shipping was and after applying the discount the item was still $11.39.

Oh man, well I bought it last week and it was 7.40, I guess the coupon isn't as powerful anymore or something. Dang. I don't remember where I found my coupon, maybe it was a different once than what I posted. Google around...

Anyway, do you think it will fit?

Edit: I think when I bought it the list price wasn't 18.99 to start, I think it was lower. That's probably why. Here are some more coupons I found, maybe one of these will work http://www.couponcabin.com/coupons/meritline/

Funny, how four bucks suddenly seems like a big deal... I'll probably order it anyway. If it works on the 3G, it'll be great for GPS. Otherwise, my husband can use it with the v1 for keeping google maps directions where he can see them or whatever...

The 3G is slightly longer and wider than the first gen. Hopefully, it will still work for you though.

Ok I got it. Yes it does fit the 3G, but just a little too snug for comfort. The little plastic lip at the top that holds in the phone needs to be trimmed for it to fit without you feeling like it is digging into the phone. I did it with some nail clippers.

I haven't tried it in the car yet, will return and report...

did you attach this on the plastic surface? or on the glass surface in your car?
I wonder if the suction cup works well on plastic interior, since I'd like to place it on plastic surface of my car....
