Just thought I'd share this story with ya. As most of you know the iPhone V1 was only introduce to Ireland 3 months ago. I knew the 3G version was around the corner but I had to have it. However, when the 3G was announced I wrote (yes on paper) to both Apple and O2 to complain. Of course neither company was aware of the others letter. I accepted my stupidity at be an early adopter but indicated the deals/rebates other countries had recieved. They both tried to blame each other in the phone calls and emails I recieved. But I stuck with it and well to cut a long storey short I got €100 from each company in the form of a bill rebate from O2 and a voucher from Apple.

The price of the the new iphone 3g on my preferred tarrif is €169 so I am in profit and the neat thing is I dont even know for certain if I am going to get the new 3g. But if or when I do I will be picking mine up for free (so to speak).

I know to some this might appear a bit dishonest but here in Ireland we are screwed regularly when it comes to customer service so I feel no shame.

Great job, you might as well go ahead and upgrade since it will cost you nothing to enjoy it. Well that isn't exactly true with connection fees and what nots but still well worth it.

Writing letters? On actual paper? Like... by hand?

People still do this? :)

Well done, sir. This makes me want to write some of the angry letters I have been thinking about writing.
