American iphone 3g unboxed!

it looks like the 3g is wider, but it might be because the aluminum side is thinner? any thoughts?

I saw the specs somewhere. Not only is it wider, but also taller & thicker. Kinda dissapointing.

yea. the thing that was actually holding me back was the lack of an aluminum back and the whole tapered edges thing.

I personally think that the black one looks ugly. I Really don't like the plastic! Maybe the white will look better?

Personally, I think the 3G needs to get some fatter friends. Or at least not lay right next to its predecessor.

I think it looks sleek on its own, but a little chubby in the side-by-side...

I feel the complete opposite. IMO, it looks a ton better, and hopefully the bezel doesnt scratch more either...that looks nicer too.

That one pic you posted makes me want the new one even more! :gasp:

Haha its all about it being mint cause since I dont have an iPhone and missed out on the first iPhones launch because of un-reliable parents feeding me lies that they would buy me an iPhone and all this other BS to make me feel happy, only to be let down by not buying me one and going back on their word, but on top of that going to Sprint and bribing me with a blackberry Lol!

When I open the the iPhone's box I want it to feel like I had just gotten it on launch day, LIKE IT SHOULD'VE BEEN:ANGRY:

yup perfect condition, and it was unlocked and jail broken plus two cases lol

oh well im happy with my 250

and i had the receipt and box and all that stuff that came with it out of the store so you could of had the real excitement lol

I believe the gloss finish of the iPhone 3g is resistant to such browning. Apple HAD to have this in mind when making it -- i hope!:2cool::cool:

They should have had that plastic/rubber backing that a lot of cellphones are starting to use. Maybe they are saving that for iPhone2

From this picture, it seems to me like the 3G looks sleeker and slimmer. When they're lying face down, though, with the backs showing, it does look a bit bigger. Still, that all black back, combined with the curved sides, really does seem to have a slimming effect.

one thing that pops in mind, though:
the sides of the iphone 3g are tapered, not only to make it feel slimmer, but to make it feel more comfy in your hands.
but- when we turn the thing to landscape (vids/internet/calc), isn't it going to feel very awkward (due to curved back?)

You know the ol' 'sit the phone in your lap, and get out of your car' method. I have seen my share of plastic shards and chips flying. Lol, I even got out of the car, and stepped on it myself..one time I bent over to get it, and accidently kicked it further down the parking lot.:laugh2:

But what does comfort me, is that the entire backside is one piece. Or should that concern me? I think it would be more prone to fracturing being one piece, but at the same time, it should be stronger since there aren't any crevices/seams.

I was referring simply dropping the phone. I agree that sitting on, stepping on, running over, flushing it, kicking it, etc, is a tough scenario to protect against and some phones may fare better than others.
