Yep, comes with headphones (with mic and switch) and the dock cable (usb). :laugh2:

The dock is what the iphone sits in, but it is not needed as you can just use the cable.

The dock is like the cradle in Windows Mobile parlance.

It is a stand so that you can prop up the device on your desk when connected to your computer (as opposed to the device just laying flat on the table). The actual USB cable plugs into this dock and the iPhone plugs into the connector in the dock.

Some even allow an Apple bluetooth headset to be charged at the same time.

True. I never used the dock, so not having one included with the 3G is no biggie for me.

Seriously?! I'm sure I took everything out of the box. It was totally sealed when I took it out of the bag in the car when we left the Apple store. I need to go find that box. I wonder if there's any chance I've has a dock in a box for a year...

Yeah, maybe it is in the box still! I've done things like that before, so excited to start using the new thing that I forget key pieces still in the box. :laugh2:

Do you think they will have the docs for sale at the Apple store or the AT&T store on Friday or will they make us wait a little? Do you think they will have all the accessories available on Friday as well as the phones? I want to get a doc on Friday.

Yea, it didn't seem like something that was worth spending extra money on to me. I *thought* that was why I didn't have one. I can't believe I paid $600 for something and didn't get all the pieces. I'm so bummed.

Finding that box is a priority today. I have to know for sure that there isn't anything left in there...

Stores have begun receiving the devices (and possibly accessories) already. I imagine that, contractually, they are not allowed to display or even confirm that they have them.

Where do you think those initial photos came from?...store managers/employees that couldn't wait.

Thanks aknightstale!! That's what i plan to do. I just hope by the time i get there, there is stock and no empty shelves.

I am getting more excited as the days/hours/minutes go by!! Wow!! This is gonna be a gr8 rest of the summer once i get my hands on this iPhone 3G. A new toy to play with!!!

Well, I'm pretty darn sure I missed it because it wasn't in there... but I'd like to figure out where the flip we put the box so I can confirm that. I've found the box for every other stupid cell phone I've ever owned, but not the iPhone box. :angry:

Do you happen to remember where it was in the box? It just seems so unlikely that ONE box, MY box, would have somehow not gotten one during packaging. If only I'd known a year ago that I was supposed to have one, I'm sure Apple would have done something for me. There is no way they'd believe me now if I went in and said, "Just last night I discovered that I was supposed to get a dock with the phone I bought last summer... and there wasn't one in the box..."

They'd be telling stories about me for the rest of the night, if not the summer... "Some crazy lady came in and tried to get us to just GIVE her a dock..."

It seems a silly thing to be upset over as I've been living just fine without it, but I'm having a difficult time letting go. (Perhaps you noticed ;) )

It was underneath the black cardboard that the iphone was sitting in. It and the wall charger should have been right above the usb cable in a little plastic tray.

Here's the best pic I can find online. You can see two rectangular sections just above the usb cable in this tray. IN one section sat the wall charger and the other sat the dock.

You can also answer calls while plugged into the dock cable. :smile:
