It does exist. As long as you are paying for any text plan, you can add it for $5 a month.

You are charged for texts to other AT&T customers and these texts are deducted from the text plan that you are paying for and they are certainly not unlimited.

We have unlimited in-network texting on two of the lines in our family plan. I pay $20 a month for iPhone data +200 texts and an additional $5 for the unlimited in-network texting. On another line, we pay $5 for 200 texts and another $5 for unlimited in-network texting.
They ABSOLUTELY are UNLIMITED to other at&t customers... to the tune of thousands of texts a month.

Thanks for the reply.
I looked on the AT&T website at the plans/services and didn't see anything about it. I guess it's just something they don't really advertise and you have to ask about.

Maybe I'm unclear about what your question is. You can't just text someone because you're both at&t customers and expect it to be free like mobile-to-mobile calling. But there is an unlimited in-network texting plan that you can add to your line for $5 a month.

Have you had this for a long time? I can't find it on the ATT website. I am wondering if it is something that was offered years ago and you are grandfathered in.

Well, yes. That kind of was my question. But I don't mind paying $5 either.

It is something they have occasionally advertised, but isn't on the site now. However, that doesn't mean it isn't available (though they have indicated to me that it is sometimes a choice "in the system" and sometimes not). There are actually several texting options available when you talk with customer service that are not shown as plans on the website.

I haven't had it for a long time, maybe April of this year. It wasn't on the site when I added it either, but I knew it existed and asked about it. Sure enough, getting it wasn't a problem.
There are other text plans that aren't listed on the website too. It's really best to make a phone call.

I have the unlimited texts for $9.99 a month on AT&T. I can text anyone on anyone network and it's all free. I average about 2000 texts a month, and some of my friends are on Verizon.

With free M2M you had to be on a plan that had it.

Is that the old plan or something? Before it went to $20?
The reason I'm asking all these questions about txting is because my girlfriend lives in Pittsburgh. I live in Pensacola, FL. So we talk/text a LOT. She has AT&T so talking won't be a problem (I recently had to upgrade my Sprint plan after a $400 bill). But the texting is another issue.

I remember when they had the $5 in network unlimited that you could add on to any text plan, I think they stopped it once they started the unlimited texting plans.

They got rid of that In network plan. I added my g/f on my plan, She has to pay 10 dollars for 400 txt since she has a regular phone, and I pay 10 for 1500 since I have the iphone. I asked about different plans and she mentioned the one about free in network for extra 5 dollars, but when she looked it up she found out it didnt exist anymore. sucks.

For USD$20/month, you can text fellow AT&T customers all you want (unlimited).
By the way, you can text anyone, on any network, in any country, as many times as you wish for the same price. ;)

Well that's a bummer. :( At least you tried. Y'know, with her added to your plan you'd have unlimited texting for $30 a month. That's only an extra $5 each at this point and she's gonna blow through 400 messages if you want to send her cutsie stuff all day. 400/30 is only 13.3 texts a day.
