apple store in mall [Archive]

well its official now, 8am apple store release of the iphone 3g....my question is that the Apple store near me is in roosevelt field mall in Long island NY, but I think the mall opens at 10am. So whats going to happen? wait 2 extra hours?

last year for the 6pm release, I got to the mall at 8.30 am and there was already a good 100 people on the line. I wonder what its going to be like this year.....

i say get there as early as possible if you plan on going early at all

There's still no official word on when Apple is going to start selling the iPhone. I would assume they would be able to open at 8AM instead of 10AM but it's going to be a store-by-store decision. I would definitely suggest getting there plenty early.

i think it is official cuz its on Apple's website...anyways i think it would be nice if there was an official line at malls and we were escorted in to make our purchase...prolly not gonna happen...but it would be nice....
Last year was the line inside the mall? how was it managed?

Yeah I hadn't seen that yet. Going to be 8 AM and I'm pretty sure they will put a line outside, especially since people are going to get there at all hours of the night.

Most Malls open their doors quite early so employees can get to their stores and if the mall has a mallwalker program, the mall will be open. I used to manage stores for a retail chain and we often opened an hour early on new release dates. At times I was able to get in the mall as much as 4 hours before official opening.

In Hawaii, many eating places in malls open early like at 6 or 7 a.m. So, the mall opens but many stores are still closed until they open at around 9 or 10 a.m.

I think they'll open the mall doors to let the Apple store people in at 8 a.m.

True. Especially the Ala Moana mall does not even have doors. I think it will be like the morning after the thanksgiving but just one store is open.

When I talked about the mall doors, I was just talking about malls in general, not really about Ala Moana. :tounge:

BTW, there's an AT&T kiosk in Ala Moana and I heard kiosks will get some amount of iPhone 3Gs.
