How will the new iPhone work with the existing apple bluetooth??
Dont you need to dock both the phone and the headset in the dock for it to pair?
The new iPhone wont fit into the old iPhone's dock will it?

the dock has nothing to do with the bluetooth pairing... the bluetooh dock's only purpose (with regards to bluetooth) is for charging the headset.
and, no, iphone2 will not fit in an iphone1 dock.

I thought that is how you pair the phone and the headset, am I mistaken?

i haven't actually used the apple headset, but any other bluetooh device pairs through bluetooth (i.e. wirelessly). I can't imagine the apple one is any different.

Initially yes. Not sure how it will be done to pair it to the new iPhone 3G yet. Hopefully, we'll get some clarification from Apple on this in the next few days.

He's talking specifically about the pairing procedure. The pairing procedure for the Apple BT headset is to insert the iphone into the dock and the headset into the dock at the same time. There is no button pushing sequence like on other BT headsets from other manufacturers.

Yea Initially you have to dock both, thats how they pair. So I hope we find out how to pair it with the new iPhone soon.

It certainly will be if the new iphone 3G doesn't fit into the old iphone/headset dock.:frown:

I may have discovered a way. I was just looking in my iPhone box and there is a travel charger in there. The charger plugs into the bottom on the iPhone and the headset docks with the bottom on the charger. I would guess its the same connection for the old and new iPhone.

I know you can dock them, but cant you also just go to the settings on the iphone, and turn on bluetooth, then doesnt it search for devices? it should then find the apple headset and then just tap the name of the headset i think.

hi all, I have said Bluetooth headset and you can pair it with your iPhone using the travel adapter cable. However the travel adapter must be connected to a power source not a usb hub. Either connect to the mains or your car charger. It works for me this way. Considering the 3g has apples connector it should work with the 3g. On their web site theyre advertising it as an accessory.
That said the headset although cool to look at sucks on battery life and reception.

So, in other words, don't buy Apple's bluetooth headset. :laugh2:

Yeah, I just saw that on the Apple web site and remembered about the travel dock too. That would make for an easy way to pair when the time comes.

My Apple bluetooth works well with both versions of the Iphone and has a longer range with the 3G. It pairs easily and sounds great.
