DemoApp

Ok, so something weird has popped up on my springboard... a grey question mark icon titled "DemoApp" It happened when I recently uninstalled something (I can't for the life of me remember what) and then went to delete its icon from a Category (icon directory). Well, in the Category, its icon had changed to this DemoApp thingy, so I edited and deleted that icon from the category and resprung. And yup, that's how it ended up on my desktop.

Running it just brings up a blank screen (the actual use of this app is detailed in the link below).... It's a system file, so I can't uninstall it.

Sooo, I do some searching and find this article from TUAW from just a couple days ago, oddly enough:

This doesn't really help my situation, but I thought it was interesting.

So.... any ideas on how to get rid of this thing safely?

Ok, right, I see DemoApp every time I add apps to a Category... so I must have "broken it free" there accidentally at some point, then popped it out on the desktop as described.

So where's the "hidden" folder I should move it back to?

Well, I got rid of it temporarily by SSH'ing into the phone and moving the whole Demo.app folder into the Fieldtest.app folder. So it's there if I ever need it... but I doubt I ever will.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there since I did a lot of googling and found no real solutions to this issue.

hey dave, i don`t know what that app is, but i see it in bossprefs under hide icons, it must be related to some app that we use, you can hide it with bossprefs, maybe it`s even realated to it

I didn't know that about Bossprefs... good looking.

you can also hide it using hidepod or poof (which is the method bossprefs uses I think)
