For some reason, I'm having an issue with signal reception problem. Last night, my phone lost singal showing No Service sign on signal bar area for two hours and I didn't even know it.
I've been having many dropped call and call failure issue....I even got my phone replaced from Genius Bar (Thanks Apple!), talked to AT&T and got some credits from them, but still having issue. Maybe because of my jailbreak?

I don't know if FW2.0 will have better algorithym to make the phone signal and quality better or not, but I sure would like to try it. (Some said 1.1.4 had better signal)
Can't wait for it....

I think it has been said that it comes out with the iPhone 3g on 7/11.

They haven't announced specifically when the 2.0 firmware update will be available. All Apple has said is that it will be "early July."

Go and read EIC's front page, and then the link to Gizmodo.

I see that now. Maybe we'll have something to talk about this Friday.

macrumors (http://www.macrumors.com/):

Gizmodo claims (http://www.macrumors.com/c.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fgizmodo.com%2F5019445%2Fiphon e-20-golden-master-could-hit-this-friday&t=1214409602) that the iPhone 2.0 Firmware could hit Golden Master this Friday. The Golden Master version is the final shipping version of a product, which means we could also see the 2.0 Firmware released as soon as this Friday. Gizmodo warns that the date is tentative, but falls in line with Apple's original plans to deliver the 2.0 Firmware by late June. At WWDC, however, Steve Jobs revised the release date to "early July".

The 2.0 Firmware will be available for free for existing iPhone owners and as a $9.99 update for iPod Touch users. The biggest new features of the 2.0 Firmware include Exchange/Enterprise support (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/03/06/iphone-enterprise-features-activesync-exchange-wpa2-push-services/) and 3rd party application support (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/03/06/apple-releases-iphone-sdk-demos-spore-instant-messaging/), but Steve Jobs also highlighted a number of additional improvements during the 2008 WWDC keynote. These include: contact search, iWork document support, Office documents (Word, Excel, and now PowerPoint) support, bulk delete & move for messages, scientific calculator, parental controls and additional language support.

Of note, even if the 2.0 Firmware is delivered early, the App Store launch may lag behind by a few weeks, as we've heard that the App Store is still undergoing active development.

I hope so too so the hackers will have time to jailbreak it before iDay2 so we don't have to wait weeks with our iPhone 3G locked with nothing but pay programs or free programs designed to get you to spend money.

Well, it's not exactly the last paragraph, but I guess you mean this one:

iPhone 3G will be available in the US on July 11 for a suggested retail price of $199 (US) for the 8GB model and $299 (US) for the 16GB model in both Apple and AT&T’s retail stores and requires a new two year contract with AT&T for qualifying customers. iPhone 2.0 software will be available on July 11 as a free software update via iTunes® 7.7 or later for all iPhone customers. For further information about iPhone 3G pricing and availability in the US and internationally, visit www.apple.com/iphone (http://www.apple.com/iphone).

" Also, remember that releasing a Golden Master internally or to developers doesn't mean releasing it to the general public."

Good, now I won't have to listen to you guys talk about the wonders of 2.0 while I'm stuck waiting for iPhone 3G. (I'm not updating my current iPhone - just getting the one.)

Why wouldn't you go ahead and update if the 2.0 is released before the 11th?

Because that way when I get iPhone 3G I'll get everything at once - new hardware features with the new phone, and new software features with 2.0.

Not me!! I'll be upgrading as soon as 2.0 is available. It's like Christmas morning when a new update is released.

the firmware updates are rarely available first thing in the morning. Apple could be waiting for 6PM Eastern to commemorate the one year anniversary. I highly doubt it though.
